Rotterdam keeps getting better. A lot of daring designs there, especially the Calypso.

Rotterdam has definitely got it going on. There are a lot of intriguing design concepts being put into play. Great stuff.

Why was Coolsingeltoren cancelled ?

Lack of interest by investment compagnies. There are other studies. There is a plan for a tower of 100meters :hell: Building the Coolsingeltoren is still a option.

^^ Construction of Wijnhaeve has started, preparations for construction of the Maastoren have been started.

By the way, Coolsingeltoren, Corsotoren and Pschorr will probably never be built :(

Corsotoren was only a pastiche of the traditional Chicago architecture. It's better to move on.

Not that I know of, but this one comes close. The Wilhelminapier or Kop van Zuid will look like this in a couple of years.

Damn I miss the "Jungerhans Tower" , that would have been an enormous eyecatcher(any chance left or is is completely dead?)

New Orleans work so far has only been site preparation and digging. The construction will officially start on 24 may.

Coolsingeltoren is back from the death: They have a tenant, but the design will be different with an other architect. There are no renders yet, only this study. (pic by SkyBridge) The height will be 116 (residential) and 145 meter (office).

You mean the American cities?
They've just named the buildings after the old warehouses that were built there around 1880. This area of the port was dedicated to trade with the Americas. So the warehouses were named after the American ports where the ships came from. Cities like Montevideo, Havana, New Orleans and Baltimore.

No, numbers 1, 2 and 5 are on the drawing board, but their start is scheduled for 2008. Maastower and New Orleans are UC.

Rotterdam is a marvelous city. A true monument to modernity, efficiency and style! I had a chance to visit it last summer and while it isn't as much of an eye candy as many other European cities, its definitely one of my favorite cities in Europe for its modern, "no bs" attitude. Excellent projects too, thanks for the updates!

The preparations for the construction of a new market hall (http://www.top010.nl/html/markthal_rotterdam.htm) have begun. This is how it will look like:

Directly beside it, a new city block called Rotta Nova will be built. It is a multipuspose buidling, but most of the space will be apartments. The height will be 78 meters. Not spectacular, but these buildings will enhance the urban life here. I love all open spaces, the terraces and balconies and the setbacks on this tower. :)
