Sept 2010... I wonder if the Harmon Hotel will be completed by that time as well.
I read that CAD International is working on the new interior design for the Cosmopolitan. They did the interior for the W Hotel and Residences that was canceled a few years back. Those renderings of the W Hotel are on their website and in my opinion would be perfect for the Cosmopolitan. You can check those renderings by following the link, go to the gallery and it will be the Hotel and Residences Las Vegas.

Here is the article mentioning CAD International... This article mentions a June 2010 opening, but I think a Sept. opening is more accuarte.

I could not disagree more. I was very much in the know about the W project and one of the reasons I did not participate was due to their choice of interior design. The look was more Neo 70's done cheaply. One reason I chose to get involved with the Cosmo, along with location and views, was I knew the Eichner's would design something special for the room interiors. Anyone who saw the models at either of the two locations would have seen the use of more expensive tiles, veneers and layouts than any or Hotel or Condo hotel in Vegas. Not everyone might like the actual colors or ??? but the overwhelming number of folks I took to the Models were BLOWN AWAY. For the new owners to have relied on Related Group, who have been nothing but a mess for Vegas unit purchasers, for choosing interior design and firms, was and is nothing short of bad business. Now Deutche is looking for new designs even though they have room designs right at their finger tips.
We do not know for sure how long the delay will be while this new design comes into existence but what a shame to lose those room interiors previously shown as models. Of course it will be interesting to see if the cost of materials goes up or down from the previous concepts but my guess is cost savings may be at the heart of the matter.

I think most buyers would be content with 30%. Minimum would probably be a 20% price cut. I don't think they'll go near 40 or 50 since there is a premium for the location, amenities etc. Financing options for each property would help to seal the deal.
This is really the last hurdle for them concerning CityCenter. Make closings happen, open the property to a tons of publicity in Dec., then start raking in cash from the casino, food & beverage and closings to turn the company around.

Cosmo will never be part of CC because CC is going for their LEED (green) certification and Cosmo is not green. Now, I suppose that MGM could eventually purchase Cosmo, but they wouldn't call it "part of CityCenter".

Good to hear that they're already putting customer service first. Vdara should be a pretty upscale experience. The interior design is full of vibrant color and creative decor. If they have the service down I think it'll be a pretty popular offering as a non-gaming hotel on the Strip.

Gawd Harmon is F-ed up. I like this new ground level pic of Crystals, really gives you the sense of scale that the space will have.
The winding treehouse restaurant nside looks amazing. And the thought of ice sculptures that reshape each time they rise from the ground is awesome.

Hehe, what better way to advertise for CityCenter than to have ads on the buildings. I wonder if Veer residents will get paid when there's a leaning poster of Grey Goose on the building.
From Hotel Chatter; this is the view of CityCenter from the Hotel32 lounge, Lounge32. Great view!

I highly doubt they need one.
The whole project is huge enough, and they really don't have much space for a marquee IMO.

About 4 months away until PCC opens... anyone have a guess as to the signature feature at Aria designed by WET Designs? I heard that it is going to be a mixture of different elements- I'm assuming water and fire? Also, I am guessing that the feature is in the middle circle at the porte cochere... perhaps it isn't?

It's still under wraps, but initial renderings display a water and light show. I'm sure it'll be better than that because it will reportedly cost $25 million to build.

Here is some great insight on the floorplan at Aria from Two Way Hard Three:
http://www.ratevegas.com/blog/2009/08/exploring_arias.html
The hotel will supposedly have two levels, with the promenade level home to the Cirque theatre, The Buffet, pool deck, restaurants, and nightclub.

Yes the feature will be in the middle circle. I have a thought it would be similar to the water feature outside Burj Al Arab. But only time will tell...

Thanks for the replies. I had hope the feature would be more dramatic than the one al Burj Al Arab, but realistically... that probably won't happen. I remember reading somewhere (don't know if it is fact, or a suggestion... I'm now beginning to think the latter) that the feature should rival Bellagio and Mirage in technology and as a spectacle.

i think someone a ways back on this forum said the citycenter destroyed the the views from the monte carlo (reffering to the hotel rooms and not the pool area).... NO WAY!!! the monte carlo has great views all around... especially those facing the city center.
I think the guy who wrote it was just a passerby on this forum & had like 10,000 posts so he was probably just going from forum to forum adding comments.

^^ At first it did look like CityCenter would block Monte Carlo's views, but now that they have removed a lot of cranes, and that they are slowly cleaning up all the mess, and most of the construction is done, the views actually aren't bad.

the views will still be there but having a 600ft tower(s) on the north side will be different, off topic the pool area at monte carlo has been reduced dramatically with city center and the tennis courts are now gone :(

Unless I missed someone else saying the same thing, that was me you were referring to. I definately don't post much, but I read the forum quite a bit. Either scenario shouldn't affect having an opinion, though.
I made mention of the views a couple times, I think. After I stayed a couple days in the MC and posted some pics, and once last spring after someone posted new pics of the theatre.
I have to stand by what I said then, but I think for different reasons than you might think. To be clear, my thoughts were eventually based on pictures of the new Cirque theatre which is right there, looking over the pool. Not the further off high rises. And I was reflecting what the daughter and wife thought at the time. I actually felt it would be kinda interesting, but it wasn't too hard to gather that my interests, as well as the tastes of posters on this board, would be completely different than most folks using the pool. People here are going to find the views interesting because they have an affection for architecture. Most people just see something right in their face that's completely different from the surroundings they imagined they entered and see a distraction. Those who enjoy architecture see and admire the beauty of the art.
My wife and daughter thought the views would make them feel cramped in and it took away the bit of tropical feel they sought. The view gave them a real close-up of a wherehouse-district, and they didn't like the bold interference into their imaginations.
So, to reiterate, my guess is that once you get outside the views of those of us who have an interest in this sort of thing, many will feel as my wife and daughter did.

MGM expected to price cut CityCenter condos by 30 percent:
http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2009/aug/15/get-em-while-theyre-cold/
This is according to two realtors. One says in some cases it could be more than 30 percent, which would imply that Vdara could see a larger cut to secure lending.

I just left the strip a few hours ago. City center is not as bad as I once thought but still, in my mind a monstrosity. I do not like big New York city scenes so this is just my opinion. Cosmo is a disaster in the making..... Unfortunately I have 3 units there... at least for now. The glass color is just nowhere near what was depicted as it is now a very drab dark grey with a bit of blue rather than the Aqua blue that was depicted. Ugggghhhhhhhh. Looking at the entrances, both off Harmon for drive in and walkin off L.V. Blvd. I am horrified at what I see. Those slanted glass sections are just not worth the price of admission. Almost like Seattle in the Winter. Just no feeling to the place. The long length of cement wall, even with the supposed water features off Harmon give me no feeling of life or excitement at all.
I keep hoping it will get better. Thank goodness the North facing views from Cosmo of the Belagio will make this off the hook once inside. As I said before, I do not like the cold skylines of big cities. Belagio will always be my standard of elegance for Vegas. But, it is what it is...... I still have my fingers crossed. Interesting to see what the full opening of MGM city center will have in relation to taking visitors away from Wynn and Trump.

i understand what you're getting at solediavolo, but all the structures at citycenter are far enough away from the MC tower that it still gives each room a large panoramic view... i came across a building that just went up in seattle, called 1918 8th ave, that blocked all the views of the balconies of the adjacent building facing it. here's 2 pics.
