Interesting Facts/Records (in own words):
Sendeturm Golm was the last broadcasting tower built of wood in Germany. The material for the tower came from wooden radio towers of the former transmission Rehmate, which was dismantled nearly complete by the Russian occupants after World War II.
Sendeturm Golm was after 1953 (demolition of 150 metre wooden radio tower at Wiederau near Leipzig) the tallest wooden tower in former Eastern Germany. Sendeturm Golm, which was a famous landmark, was at the end of its life one of the last remaining wooden radio towers.
Sendeturm Golm was demolished on October 25th, 1979 by explosives, because it was in bad structural state.
