That's not that surprising. It looks like he spent at least part of every season playing WHL or AHL, didn't get that much ice time with Edmonton (he played nearly twice as many games with the Lightning during the year he got traded there, then the two previous years with Edmonton combined)

They are 11-2 in the playoffs. Emery has 3 shutouts, and the big line has combined for 51 points thus far, including Alfredsson's 9 goals in 13 games. They shut down Crosby, found a lot of holes in Brodeur, and are outplaying the team that won the President's Trophy. No big deal.

The Sens are amazing. They make plucking the puck away from the Sabres look easy anytime. I could watch their penalty kills with complete relaxation, since there's a next to nil chance Buffalo's going to score on them.

Too bad they couldn't top it off with a goal throughout most of today's game, partly with the bad officiating and commendable goaltending by Miller. The hockey gods kept it balanced by giving them a near-own goal for Alfredsson's easy tap-in though.

Yes, people are going nuts (although, considering Ottawa's somewhat low standard of what 'going nuts' is, this isn't surprising). Some are already speculating as to where we should hold our victory parade. Heard on the CBC: "Calgary and Edmonton both had their spots. We should all go swimming in the Rideau Canal!"

Buffalo woman punched in head after Senators game
Last Updated: Thursday, May 17, 2007 | 11:21 AM ET
CBC News

Two men were arrested after they allegedly assaulted a woman from Buffalo after the Senators' loss to the Buffalo Sabres in Ottawa Wednesday night.

Sean Luck said his wife, Renee Luck, who was wearing Buffalo Sabres colours and logos, was walking in front of him through the corridors of Scotiabank Place as they tried to leave the stadium with about six other Sabres fans.

'They just seemed like they were pissed off because the Senators lost.'— Sean Luck

"Two guys that were clearing the section to our right, as they were walking out, punched my wife four times — in the head," Luck said. "They just seemed like they were pissed off because the Senators lost."

Luck said his wife has two large bumps on her forehead, one on her cheek and a cut on her cheek from the assault.

Some Senators fans helped hold the two suspects until police arrived, he added.

The two men were arrested and later released, Ottawa police said.

As of Thursday morning, Const. Isabelle Lemieux said police were still investigating.

The Buffalo Sabres beat the Ottawa Senators 3-2 in Game 4 of the NHL Eastern Conference final at Scotiabank Place, crushing Ottawa fans' hopes that their team would sweep the series Wednesday night.

Game 5 is to take place in Buffalo Saturday afternoon.

Why the hell would someone punch a woman?

Because she's trying to stab you? Because she's trying to murder your sister? A woman in Calgary just choked her invalid husband to death, you don't think there was cause to punch her?

A better question is they someone would punch ANYone, and one answer is because some people are asking for it. If a woman is viciously beating an infant, I say punch away.

Oh, and GO SENS!!!!!!!

Food for thought...

King Clancy was traded from Ottawa to Toronto back in the 20s. When he found out of the trade, he was so angry that he "cursed" the Senators on his way out the door saying, "The Ottawa Senators will never win another Stanley Cup until 20-years after I'm dead".

He died in 1986.

Report: NHL nears proposal for KC, Las Vegas expansions

Pittsburgh Business Times - 8:53 AM EDT Thursday, June 7, 2007
Speculation is growing that the National Hockey League is about to propose an expansion into Kansas City and Las Vegas, according to a report by SportsBusiness Daily on Wednesday.

SportsBusiness Daily, a publication affiliated with the Pittsburgh Business Times, reported a buzz among hockey sources at Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Monday about an imminent announcement on expansion into Las Vegas and Kansas City.

When asked about the speculation, NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly stated in an e-mail to SportsBusiness Daily, "I don't know if or when there might be an announcement."

Daly also said that the NHL Board of Governors made no decisions about expanding the league and that no agreement exists with anyone to own an expansion team.

Kansas City made a strong bid for the Pittsburgh Penguins before the NHL team reached a deal for a new arena in Pittsburgh.

Best hockey news of the month!!!!

Keenan to Calgary? It's a possibility
It looks like "Iron Mike" could be back in business behind the bench of an NHL team.

Sources tell TSN that Mike Keenan is on the verge of becoming the new head coach of the Calgary Flames.

While the Flames declined to comment when contacted by TSN today, sources confirm Keenan is currently in Calgary and if all goes as expected, the well-travelled NHL executive and coach could be announced as the head coach of the Flames as early as Thursday.

If so, that would appear to leave current Flames' head coach Jim Playfair as odd man out, but if Keenan is able to finalize his deal with the Flames, it's possible Playfair may be kept in the organization, but his fate remains unclear at this point.

The Flames went 43-25-10, finishing 8th in the Western Conference last season under Playfair. They lost to the Detroit Red Wings in the first round of the playoffs.

Keenan's last job in the NHL was with the Florida Panthers where he was replaced by Jacques Martin just prior to the 2006-07 season. The Panthers were Keenan's seventh NHL team. He began his NHL career as head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers in 1984. He captured the Jack Adams trophy awarded to the league's top coach in 1985 while leading the Flyers to the Stanley Cup Final. He also took the Chicago Blackhawks to the Finals in 1992.

In 1993-94, he was hired as head coach of New York Rangers and led the franchise to its first Stanley Cup win since 1940. Keenan also served as head coach and GM as the St. Louis Blues, Vancouver Canucks, and Boston Bruins.

Keenan began his coaching career with the Peterborough Petes of the Ontario Hockey League.

Iron Mike has been behind the bench for 1,014 games with 569 wins, 447 losses, 140 ties and 20 overtime losses.

Keenan is expected to meet with Flames officials Thursday morning to finalize his contract.
