^ Damn on that second one with fog/smog and random towers popping up out of the trees it looks like Sim City.

i was walking by brentwood station tonight when i saw a huge lot of snow fall off the station - it landed with a thud - it fell into the left lane of the lougheed - it sure would have freaked someone out if their car was going underneath - little bits of snow were falling off the station

I thought I posted these pix from yesterday when I got home last night, but I was tired so I guess i didn't. If I posted them in another thread and they are a repeat, then I apolgize! :)
Things are getting dreary out there... leaves are all but gone, and most flowerbeds have either been dug up, or killed by the light frosts. Here are probably some of the very last flower/leaf pix of 2006 for Toronto.
All taken yesterday while walking my dogs:

Well, now I am curious to see how long some of these flowers can last... I got a hint from another guy on SSC that there were still irises blooming, and believe it or not he was right. I took these pix today while out walking the dogs:
http://img68.imageshack.us/img68/3673/dec0304irisesyb8.jpg
http://img68.imageshack.us/img68/9026/dec0304irisesica2.jpg
Roses are, of course, absurdly hardy and there are still blooms around.

Some strange tree that is taking its own sweet time to get ready for winter:
http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/3360/dec0306viewvivga7.jpg]
English Ivy is, of course, a long way from dying. It is extremely hardy:
http://img78.imageshack.us/img78/8012/dec0306viewvviri3.jpg
Holly, which is in for the long haul all winter:

http://img356.imageshack.us/img356/9722/dec0306viewvviiijl8.jpg
and even hydrangeas (which are mostly finished) which are not as delicate as they look:

The first "snowfall" will come when it usually does. January. We may get a flake here and there. But the real shit happens in January. flurries dont scare Torontoians. Its the ankle deep shit that gets us worried. (between the last week of December and Mid- January I predict we will be hammered by a massive [by Toronto standards] snowstorm)
EDIT: I love the Winnipeg Intersection. It looks so cool for some reason.

20-25 CM would really grind Toronto to a complete halt.
A 40-50 cm would close the city for like 2-3 days.
A massive 3-4 foot once in a 100 year blizzard would likely require a whole week.

My suburban place in the summer...
A 80% south asian area, i likely live in the more diverse part of it. There are 4 houses that are white near me! Anyways good people, but boring as hell and i can't wait to move when i am older.
I live in a massive suburban sprawl place called Brampton, Has grown by 100,000 people in last 5 years. The city future is screwed, but its an alright place to live.

The last pic is my pic of the city in Late Aug. IMO Toronto is just a beautiful place From May to October. Nice and Warm, lots of flowers, very green and with lots of stuff to do. From the Ferry which was very busy. Lots of Tourists, who really admire the view...
http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l36/mannyisthebest/CIMG0591.jpg
Plus the best view of the city, Cn Tower skypod, early evening looking at the downtown core. I couldn't get a decent picture but oh well.

It has a lot of new immigrants from Iraq to Bangladesh. That whole section of Asian is where a lot of the the new people come from. However my suburb is only tolerable in the summer though. In the winter it looks like soviet Russia.

Yes, I took all those pic.
I was lucky to have the sun at the right place when I took that pic. The Bridge is the Concorde Bridge that goes accross the St. Lawrence River, between Montreal to Parc Jean-Drapeau.

People complain about Fenwick but I don't think it's that bad. Certainly it could be more attractive but I'd rather the city have it than not have it.
This one shows how badly the infirmary lands and United Gulf site need to be redeveloped. They are like open wounds:
