Ditto.
The colours are surreal.
Since Vancouver is clearly moving into a west coast ice age.. I'm thinking this bodes well for the Olympics. A white blanket on the host city makes a certain amount of sense... no?
No-one would be amused in the global TV audience if faced with gangs of angry locals trying to open umbrellas.

^The only problem is that the Olympics will be in February and while we can get snow in February it isn't very likely. We could maybe have a day or two max of snow during the Olympics before it quickly melts away again. February is normally when the cherry blossoms start blooming and buds start coming out on the trees etc.
These are some pics I took from the 16th and 28th of February this year, both of which will be days when the Olympics are running (the 28th is the closing day):

the blossoms by st pauls hospital always seem to be the first to bloom in the city and they are often in bloom the last week of february

I just know in mid-February I always notice the buds come out during reading break. Some species are earlier than others and it tends to take awhile before they become actual leaves, but once trees start budding the cherry blossoms tend to follow shortly thereafter.
I'm not sure of the exact date at the moment, but these were taken mid-February during reading break 2007 and once again you can see buds coming out (in the last pic):

it was like summer - i remember UTV sent a camera crew down to wreck beach which had quite a few people out enjoying the freak summer like weather in february

Deer Lake. Now this photo almost became this skater's last, for only 1 second after i took this photo (no exaggeration) he fell through the ice. I quickly called 911 and ran down to the lake shore along with another witness. He was struggling for a while to get out of the water, luckily the fire department came quickly and got him out. Was a strange evening, but since he made it out ok i think it is ok to share the photo. It actually turned out to be a decent photo too! hehe. But that just goes to show, be careful if venturing out on the ice, it takes a good long freeze for the ice to become safe to skate on. The warning signs are up for a reason!

those are great EF!
Thanks! I had to be careful of my camera because I'm pretty paranoid about moisture with it and the snow is a little wet. I was one of THOSE people who were walking around with an umbrella in the snow! But it was worth it. Same goes for my soaking feet....

It actually turned out to be a decent photo too! hehe. Not sure where this should go since it isn't a skyscraper, but this is the design for a slip at the foot of Parliament street:

Vancouver looks kinda cool in the snow, Vancouverites might disagree thpugh. It looks unbelievable the day after a snow fall, especially if the sun comes out and you have a clear view of the north shore mountains. But usually I look at it as an obstacle that keeps me home most of the time.
