Tuesday was the opening night of the Jazz Festival and Stevie Wonder headlined. It was also the first event on the new section of the QDS. I'm not a huge fan but what a party! It didn't end until 1 am so the metro and buses ran an extra hour. That was nice of the STM!

We arrived 4 hours early and this was as close as we could get

The surprise came at the very end when there was a 20 minute fireworks show launched from surrounding rooftops. Wasn't expecting that, it scared the f*ck out of a few people.

Luckily, we were standing right next to a bar at the time. Funny how that works. The beer guys could never make it to where we were so we were thirsty!

a house downtown getting a rehab - it used to be boxed in and stripped of all the original details and was quite gross with vinyl siding and blah - now its back to its former glory and cheery and bright - it might be sold off as condos or as rentals - i think its privately owned where as a lot of its neighbours were owned by the city and became rentals and low income housing

haha its a nice place not many people seem to know about it - my friend has lived his whole life here and i took him there for the first time ever about 2 years ago - he never knew it was there at all

its very popular with weddings though - so popular that they recently built a wedding chapel place - they call it the "celebration pavillion"

I don't understand the tourist fancination with the Eaton Centre... it's like they don't have a mall in their own town. So now the Eaton Centre has a stigma assoicated with it of being a Tourist mall..and locals don't want to go there because too many outsiders congregate there now...

Also,

Yonge street is a dump, I think they (tourist) would be better off patrolling Bloor Street...

I had some really good fish and chips at this place near Crescent Beach earlier this year. :D My sister in law swore it was even better than Pajo's. Crescent Beach in the southwest part of Surrey near White Rock ranks as one of my favourite beaches anywhere in Metro Vancouver.

Is this Senneville? It may be on the island, but it's still 30 km away from downtown, which is the same as St-Jean-sur-Richelieu or Mirabel. This island is just huge, 50 km from one tip to the other, so being on the island doesn't mean that much when Longueuil is just across the river from downtown!

This island is just huge, 50 km from one tip to the other, so being on the island doesn't mean that much when Longueuil is just across the river from downtown!

It's somewhere between Senneville, Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, Pierrefonds, Kirkland, Baie-d'Urfé. On Google maps you can see about 100 rural fields in that area.

It does mean something, since further west, Vaudreuil and St-Lazarre (you know, on the way to Ottawa) are booming...

If you look at Laval: about 40% is still rural; and further north, Mirabel, Blainville, Terrebonne, Mascouche are booming even more...

Just to give an idea of the size of this festival was I only took photos of a few of the ships and they stretched from Pier 23 (Cunard Centre) to Purdy's Wharf (about an hour walk on a normal day). Even an hour after the fireworks were over the boardwalk was jammed pack with people, artists and awesome music. Every square inch of the boardwalk was insanely crowded.

Can't wait for Natal Day then the BUSKERS! :D
