I always liked the old Angus shops. It's a bit of a shame it's now a Loblaws, but its better than it being used to store recycled paper and burning to the ground like what happened to the old CN shops in Point Saint Charles.

The area around the Angus shops though is borderline suburban though despite being in the middle of the city, having all been rail yards for years and only recently developed.

I always get really nostalgic walking near the Big O...

Great stuff, my friends recently moved to Vancouver; I drove up with them and we went apartment hunting in the West End, but they eventually found a place in Kitsilano. very nice, leafy area. The building in the last photo reminds me of the old CBC headquarters in Ottawa.

My grandparents are from Summerside, the second-largest town on the island.

We visited the new leisure centre being finished in time for this year's Canada Games, which includes an arena, 25m pool, gym, bowling alley, and a conference centre.

I know most here (myself included) would find it a bit too quiet, but there is a sense of civic pride I quite like, along with the relaxing pace of life you find in any rural area. My grandparents left the island and lived all over Canada over the years, but I can see why they retired here!

I absolutely love PEI. I have never actually spent any time in Summerside, but have certainly spent time in Charlottetown, and in and around the island 'interior', which in my opinion is the most picturesque place in this entire great big country. I can't say I personally see myself ever living in PEI, but what I wouldn't give to be able to own a recreational property there (and the funds to commute back and forth to use it. Ha!). Charlottetown in the height of tourist season has an impressive urban mass downtown considering the size of the 'city', to go along with some of the best pizza I ever had at a restaurant who's name for the life of me I can't recall.

Sure looks very busy in that picture! ;) It's quite an impressive highway for a city the size of Halifax. When I was there 3 years ago there was a lot of construction at the 111/118 interchange, it was very new and large. In fact, Halifax seems to have a very well-developped highway network compared to other cities of similar size. Great city btw! :tup:

To the right is the roof structure of the new Broadway-City Hall SkyTrain Station that is located beneath the intersection. Travel time from this station to the airport, 19 minutes. Nice shots. That Edmonton panorama was beautiful. I still can't put my thumb on the 'vibe' I get from Edmonton. Very interesting city, that perplexes me to this day. I just don't know what Edmonton 'is'. Though, I have certainly spent some time there. In spite of the fact I cannot begin to define it, I really like it!

Yeah i notice it living in Toronto now, there is a serious lack of green here... there seems to be a tendancy to just pave over places where a little vegitation could go a long way to improving the feel of the street. Little things can make the biggest difference.

Hey flar, How come you didn't post the "Super Mega Ottawa Pano" that goes with those shots? It is the best Ottawa photograph ever. I loved seeing it over at the skyline thread.

Where the hell are all the people in Kitchener? For a city it's size, that's a really dead downtown street for lunchtime. Nice shots though.

It's actually around 2pm, but yeah, could use some improvement. The peak is more like 12-1pm. You should see it at night. ;)

Who knows how many people just pack a lunch instead. I also know some of these office buildings have lunch places/coffee shops/cafeterias built inside (i.e. Manulife).
