European plates are awesome. During the summer you'll see the odd French plate around St. John's. Funny that it's missing the D Country Sticker.

Obviously during the whole Grand Prix weekend, St-Jean-Baptiste, at major concerts during the biggest summer festivals, at some fireworks, and sometimes the car-free day

That Granville Street pic is crazy! I have no doubt Montreal can get like that regularly. I think what makes it especially rare for Vancouver is that we don't have any pedestrian-only streets unless they're closed down for something like the car-free festivals. Like these pics of mine from Commercial last summer:

People from big cities like it busy like that. When you're used to a place that's hopping every day, and then go to a place that's not, it feels really quiet/sleepy/dead. It's about time Vancouver had more life on its streets. It's not really a small city any more. Better late than never Vancouver! I wish I were there. :tup:

These were taken last week during the beautiful 8 day sunny streak we had during the Olympics. Around the Brentwood area the temps were around 15 in the afternoon during this sunny stretch. Nearly all of these towers have been built in the last 5 years.

With many more tower projects proposed and a possible mall renovation/expansion proposed I feel this area could become a very interesting urban environment, especially with the skytrain guideway running through it, over the next 2 decades.

What like a minute out of city proper? It's still metro Calgary and is apart of suburban Calgary -- whether or not it's a different municpality. It's like saying Richmond isn't Vancouver.
