One thing the really impresses me is the diversity of architecture. All this new stuff plus the historic districts (been there! :cool: ) will be a great combo.

as for the Tour Oxygene - meh. It's nice and I wouldn't mind a tower like that going up in my 'hood, but fairly bland still IMO.

The largest French skyscraper project outside of Paris for Lyon

The 37-floor Incity Tower will be 200 meters (650 ft) high and will contain 40,000 sq. meters (430,000 st. ft) of office space. It will be built in the Part-Dieu business district and is scheduled to be completed by 2012. It will use green building technology, producing its own energy. Architects are Denis Valode and Albert Constantin.

A Lyon, les immeubles de grande hauteur sont à la mode. Alors que se construit la tour Oxygène (115 m), la réalisation d'un bâtiment de bureaux de 200 m de haut a été annoncée la semaine dernière en 2012 à la Part-Dieu. Et selon nos informations, la SACVL envisage sérieusement la construction d'une tour de 130 m de haut au nord de Gerland (7e).

Cet immeuble serait destiné à accueillir essentiellement des logements. « On est prêt. On a un projet dans les cartons », confirme Gérard Klein, directeur de la Société d'aménagement et de la construction de la ville de Lyon, qui gère 8 000 logements dont 2 900 sociaux. Cette société d'économie mixte, présidée par la maire PS du 5e arrondissement Alexandrine Pesson, souhaite également créer un « quartier d'un nouveau genre » au nord de Gerland, où elle possède d'importantes réserves foncières.

I'm going to take pictures of la Confluence soon. A lot of tower cranes in that area! According to one of my professors, there might be problems in sight though, the costs are way higher than expected and some of the projects could possibly be cancelled and/or delayed. I gotta take a look closer, but there seems to be no sign of life for the museum yet.

So the mayor announced 2 new towers which could be constructed before 2015. One of 130-140 meters and one 100+ meters. Which adds to the tower INCITY (200 m) who must be begun the next year.
