Bye bye Japanese villlage.
I also like this project alot, although it seems to have that TD Canada Trust tower feel I think it doesn't hurt if another tower went up with similar features as the existing except updated to 2006 standards of architectural taste.
Those two vertical elements at the front will be the dominant feature of the building. It will bring some of the flashyness of Shanghai to a city like ours.
Multicolored LED tubes will be on both vertical elements starting from the mechanical floor making its way 140m to the very top. The spire is actually a light box or a lantern as some refer. The winter garden inside will also be very high quality and nice including reflecting pools and lots of plants.
Its one of my favorite projects after BOw. :)

They should put that LED tubing along the diamond cross bracing of the Bow.
I see some similarity with this and the TD Canada Trust tower, but this is definately nicer. Where in the building is this winter garden going? every new proposal seems to have a garden in it.

Bright white LED tubing on the diamond bracing of the Bow would look nifty, and make the building really stand out at night. That's a good idea - Calgary's skyline needs a bit of jazz for the night time, because the lighting we've got down there is kind of boring.

Effortless! To tell you the truth.
Ground breaking may have already begun.
I think after the ATCO was taken down they did not need to flatten the land or anything, they started digging. When I was there 2 weeks back, the location where ATCO and Japanese Village was at, it was a pit already. Maybe Canterra can confirm with another photo update soon.
Also Height revisions have taken place. The Top of Roof is actually 149m and top of spire(the highest point) is now 170m.

Bo, there are small pits at those two locations but the real excavation has not started yet but as you can see the piles are being drilled in preparation.
Meanwhile Hy's is totally levelled except the basement wall in the middle and the Diane Paul Gallery/former Peters & Co. building on 4th is slowly being chipped away and should be gone by next week.

Sometimes small material changes or just last minute engineering plans can change the height of buildings. This is a small reduction most likely a change in the thickness of concrete.
