Store has finally reopened since Hurricane Katrina after a renovation that cost multi-millions (somewhere around $15 to $20 millon). Just in time for Christmas season....

Have you been to it since it has opened? I wonder if it has changed at all. I love Canal Place. It is such a nice urban shopping district.

It just opened today, so, I haven't been yet. I'll probably go in December to pick up a couple of gifts.

I went today, and I'm poorer as a result. However, I must say this: They did one hell of a job with the store. It is FANTASTIC. $34,000,000 can do a lot for one department store. It's also my understanding that the store has been exceptionally busy.

Prior to the storm, the New Orleans SFA was, for 15 years running, the most successful store in the chain on a dollar per square foot basis....even though in added several thousand square feet back in 1999.

New Orleanians are being very particular about where they shop, and they want to spend their money in the city, as opposed to the burbs. As a result, Canal Place is teaming with locals this year, which is fine by me.
