The West tower is currently being built, and the East is still waiting for approval, which would back up the 500+ theory. Longer approval = some major difference in height.

East tower 500m+?? have thought we'll see twins with the same height
Since the SWFC in Shanghai is higher than the west tower, the east Tower must surpass it to become the highest one in the greate China area. The proposal will be submitted and approved this year and the east tower will be completed before 2012.
Btw, the height of west Tower increases to 450M now, 432M body + 18M helipoter platform.
To be honest, no one knows the real height of these twin towers. I heard that the base ground can support 530M

I think the design is hideous. Way too 'busy' with all the supports showing.
It might look a little peculiar at this stage in the building process but I think it's going to be a classic structure when it's completed. It's very original, I can't think of anything that even resembles it and when the greatest height is reached all of these supports and steel tubes are going to blend together and form a very elegant shape. Obviously, I like it very much.

Found the answer to my own question in the Burj Dubai thread. 450m to roof, so obsv deck a bit lower.

Its really a disservice to call this a TV tower. If its purpose was to simply broadcast, a simple guyed mast would have done the job for a tiny fraction of the cost.
This is more of a work of public art, with a secondary purpose.
Who is funding this? The government? I guess the goverment and the broadcast media are pretty much one in the same... :haha:

They usually aren't, but this is an exception. This tower is amazing.
Exactly. This tower's engineering and innovation seems to beat most highrises of equal scale.

It's a tower made of several TVs stacked on top of one another, I thought that was common knowledge. Every city aims to have the tallest one, and gets real butthurt when another city surpasses it.

The introduction of flat-screens has really thrown a lot of cities for a loop. A flat loop. Their new towers simply don't have the heft of their predecessors. But definition is a lot crisper.

The future of Guangzhou skyline.. Too many 200M,300M buildings and one 400M, one 600M landmarks are u/c, hope that the money and resource are enough to complete all of them.

Lol! I can see my home! In the white building in the center of the picture, the tall building is Ritz-Carton Hotel.

^^
Looks like a nice place. Congrats. :)
By the way, considering that this tower has 37 habitable floors, I'm assuming this isn't a TV-tower by definition (like CN Tower, Ostankino Tower etc.) but rather an actual skyscraper.
