So we can safely say Spanish Fort is inside Daphne?

Either that, or we can safely say that Daphne is officially the world's smallest city!

I'm laughing all the way from Montgomery! We have a few places like that in Montgomery county. On a 55mph highway you are inside the town limits like 5.5 seconds, hah!

I think they just put up two signs telling you you are leaving one city and entering another city, and of course two signs can not occupy one space. It looks like there could be uncorporated land/strip wedged between the two though. Either way, this is very unusual.

Isn't this the picture from a few years ago when Daphne and Spanish Fort both claimed to have annexed the causeway? As I recall, this picture was published in the Press-Register back then, and the dispute over which city had annexed the causeway went all the way to the Alabama Supreme Court.

Yes...this picture was taken in 1999 by the Press-Register when Spanish Fort and Daphne had annexed the same property. The two cities fought a long legal battle over the property, and Spanish Fort ultimately won. Today, there is only one city limit sign, Spanish Fort's.

I knew the pic was old, because that store got wiped out by the hurricane.

Daphne and Spanish Fort have been fighting over who can annex the "money" first. Neither one is especially capable of doing anything for the businesses but it isn't about service. This Causeway photo is a good one from a few years ago when they both claimed the same land.
