Awesome! Thanks, Shasta. This is one of the best looking towers Houston has seen go up in my opinion. I love it.

How nice, ill have to drive by this weekend. I have noticed that they are really starting to tear up a lot of stuff in that area. I am really likeing the way that whole "in the loop" area is going...

Luxury high-rise overcomes stalls to leap off the construction block
Houston Business Journal - April 27, 2007by Jennifer DawsonHouston Business Journal

2727 Kirby will be the first residential high-rise developed inside the loop in two decades.
Local developer Mike Atlas began construction last week on a 30-story condominium tower in the River Oaks area that will be the first high-rise residential property to be developed inside the 610 Loop in the past two decades.

The upscale 2727 Kirby tower is being financed by Torreón Capital LP of Austin, while an undisclosed fund trading on the New York Stock Exchange is providing a loan for the deal. Atlas secured financing last week after pre-selling 35 percent of the building to 30 owners.

Who carelessly writes these articles? I guess they mean units to own.

This is a cool highrise. I would have loved to live there. :)

What an embarrassing article. The HBJ just doesn't even give a damn, I guess.

Not only that, but the freakin' building has support beams sticking out of the ground now. This leads me to believe the article is a little late getting out.

Great news. The cranes are really starting to rise in our fair city.

That was my thought as well until I thought of The Robinhood that was finished in 2002...

Other residential hi-rises that have gone up Inside the Loop since 1987 include One Park Place (under construction for weeks), The Royalton (2003), The Mosaic (topped off), Museum Tower (2002), and The Rise (2000).

They probably just feel that a high rise is only a building taller than 400 feet. Maybe we should report it to them and make them take it back in their editorial.:order:

This is a great project with quality architecture and detail. Definently speaks to the inner loop rennaissance that 35% of the building has been pre-leased before construction even began.

"My wife said, 'You're going to build this because I'm going to move into it,' " says Atlas, who designed the property with Houston's Ziegler Cooper Architects.

Here's a compilation of photos I've taken over the past number of months. The title of the thread really should be changed at this point since they seem to be adding 2-3 floors a month at this point. ;)

First, a couple of the model in the sales office on W. Alabama

Thanks for the pics. Just drove by there this weekend. The opposite side of Kirby has a large shopping complex going in. Mixed bag for people living over at 2727 since Kirby can be so hard to cross at times. They may have to drive across the street to get there safely! (Would have taken some pics, but still don't have a camera. Still looking for a wrist watch sized camera that has 20X zoom capability.)

This whole area is going to fill in very nice. There are already a few residential hi-rises in the area and it is easy biking distance to Memorial Park, Rice Village and Uptown, Downtown. Lots of amenities in the area. Very close to where my wife and I got married. I would definitely put this on the hi-rise consideration list as a place to live in the Houston area, although I would prefer walking/running access to a large park.

I'd expect there to be a streetlight put in at Kirby and either Rosamond or Kipling. Especially if things go according to expectations in that area.

Thanks for changing the title, Kevin.

With 2727's condos across from West Ave's apartments, Le Maison's apartments behind 2727 and the Belle Meade a few blocks down Westheimer, something obviously will have to be done for the new residents. I'm kinda curious about traffic studies and projections for the area in the upcoming years...

I tried to see the building from my patio, but there is a bunch of trees blocking my view of it.

Anyone here ever catch a view of the emergin Kirby Corridor heading north from the Southwest Freeway overpass? It's really starting to standout.

Yeah, I always try to grab a peek that way when I'm heading into town. There are a few garages near the freeway that might give a better view for photos... something I'd thought about looking into anyway.

No haven't, usually exiting Kirby. Will have to make a point of it next time, thanks for the heads up!

I have seen it starting to stick up a little. I have been trying to see if i can see it from 45 south as you drive by downtown, but i need to be in the passenger side to get a good look...

You know, that's a great idea.
