It's been in the DPD notices at various times for the past 8-10 months I'm guessing.

And it's very, very exciting.

The announcement is a show of optimism and a sign that they're really moving forward. That's good. And what an incredible addition to my neighborhood this would be.

very awesome project! 643 units... that's like, say 1.8 people per unit, would be over 1,150 people filling the streets and shops and resturants.

I really like the base.

So how far down 6th is this from Pacific Place? It definitely will be a stunning addition to the skyline...I really hope that podium includes some great retail and public spaces!

Excellent - I really like this development as well. Hopefully the final product will be as nice looking as the vision.

Out of curiosity, does that mean Teatro Zinzanni will be closing down, or just moving elsewhere? I have never been there - is it a healthy business? Worth going to see?

I saw a performance maybe 10 years ago(?) when it was relatively new in town and located just north of the Seattle Center. I'd recommend seeing the show once if it's similar to what I saw. Great acrobats, singers, food and crazy!! The servers/performers run every which way and help serve while kind of abusing the audience and having fun. I assume the price might be well over $100 per person (someone will look it up) so you do have to look at it in terms of a very good dinner AND a show all in one.

My four-person department went last January. It was really good including the acts and the four-star food.

The scary part is they pick people from the audience to participate. For the main act they picked someone who looks like a fratboy or older version of one, i.e. someone who looks like a good stooge. This person spends 20 minutes on stage and ends up in a dress. I've never been in a frat, but at the end of the show, one of the main drag queens walked past our table, stopped, and said "Oooh, I should have picked you!" So I'd rather not go back -- it's fun but I'm terrified of getting picked.

The new location would be on the block north of the Intiman Theater.

I counted 40 floors. But I'm sure this is just a public draft, We'll see it change over the next few months. I hope they keep the great colors at the base. And maybe stretch it a little taller! Maybe compete with Olive 8 or 1521.
Bellevue Towers still look better though, with that angle of the towers.
Also more office towers going up.

Teatro Zinzani is excellent! The venue changes every few months but is always exciting and entertaining. A little pricey but totally worth every penny..Even the food is great and catered by Tom Douglas.

The towers are clean but kinda boxy...as usual. I'd love some curves or setbacks or angles or something to really catch the eye. Right now it's just the height that catches your attention in MHO.

Teatro ZinZanni to pull up stakes, return to Seattle Center site

By Misha Berson

Seattle Times theater critic

After five years ensconced in a former Cadillac dealership in Belltown, the long-running dinner-theater attraction Teatro ZinZanni will return to its original location near Seattle Center next fall.

At an unspecified date in the autumn, the colorful, antique Belgian spiegeltent (cabaret tent) that houses Teatro ZinZanni will be carted back to 222 Mercer St., a large parking lot between Mercer and Roy streets and between North Second and Third avenues, where the show debuted in 1998.

Teatro ZinZanni will have an open-ended run at the Lower Queen Anne site, which is owned by the Seattle Opera. The site was given to Seattle Opera by the Kreielsheimer Foundation to use for revenue-producing activities until the Opera chooses to develop it for its own usage.

Elegant yet boisterously zany, Teatro ZinZanni serves a five-course dinner (designed by local chef and restaurateur Tom Douglas) along with a raucous, European-style buffet of entertainment.

The dinner menu changes every few months, as do the shifting array of clowning, musical and circus acts by veteran performers from Europe, Canada, Asia and United States. The featured pop chanteuses on the bill have included Seattle rocker Ann Wilson (of the band Heart), disco queen Thelma Houston and blues diva Maria Muldaur.

Produced by the nonprofit group One Reel (also producer of the Bumbershoot festival and other arts events), Teatro ZinZanni has won raves and sold well.

In 2000 the show's Seattle edition closed and relocated to San Francisco, where it is still running. In 2002, One Reel imported a second Belgian cabaret tent to Seattle and opened a new version of the show here in the old dealership at Battery and Sixth Street. Counting this run and the 1998-2000 run, Teatro ZinZanni has sold an estimated 280,000 tickets, at about $100 per head.

One Reel publicist Beth Brooks says the move back to Mercer was instigated after One Reel learned last year that its Belltown site, owned by Clise Properties, had been sold to a real-estate developer and would soon be unavailable.

In a press release, ZinZanni's Seattle managing director, Markus Kunz, said the Seattle Center location is a good fit, because it "brings us closer to our performing-arts colleagues and provides our patrons with easy access and plenty of parking."

Teatro ZinZanni will continue at its Belltown locale into this summer. Its current show, "The Trickster's Trunk," will be replaced Jan. 25 with "Love & Lunacy," featuring master clown Geoff Hoyle.

I agree with both statements.
