Has anyone been to the Auto Show at the Convention Center? I went today, and it was really cool. I haven't been to the show before, so I have nothing to compare it to -- either past LA Auto Shows or the big Detroit Auto Show.

If you've been to the show this year, how did it compare to years past? I was really impressed by the number of people attending, and happy that many of them were exploring the surrounding neighborhood, and marveling at the number of cranes at LA Live (now six) and the surrounding buildings. Good amount of people milling around the FiDi and South Park.

P.S., I'm kicking myself for not bringing my camera, but it was a kind of spur-of-the-moment deal.

Also, I think the Convention Center is on the verge of needing a bit of a face lift. It's nowhere near "ugly," it's just starting to show some signs of aging, like the gum on the cracked outdoor concourse, and the dim lighting in the main entryway. The restrooms are a bit nasty, kind of along the lines of the restrooms at Union Station. All in all though, pretty decent venue.

I went today as well and this was the 4th year in a row for me. This years show wasnt the best ive seen, but it was cool. The area directly around the convention/staples centers is looking good and it will be nice to see all the scaffolding down and cranes gone when the structures are gone. however, heading east towards grand and olive and beyond, these areas are still in need of a lot of work.

This was my first year going, seeing as I am a new LA resident, and I was very impressed with the show. Lots of concept cars and tons of people in attendance. I felt the show stopper was definately the Dodge Challenger. I took photos and will try to post them soon.

Argh, I missed it (again). I went in 2005, but I had no time to make it up there this year.
