Center of India Tower, also known as Center of Vedic Science, is a proposed structure which when completed would be the tallest building in India and second tallest in the world behind Burj Dubai. The planned site for this building is Katangi, Madhya Pradesh. Besides being among the tallest structures, the building is set to become the largest structure in the world by mass; its estimated width being 1,111 ft and having 224 storeys. The construction of the building is being financed by Hindu spiritual leader, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. The building's design is greatly influenced by Hindu temple architecture.

I have seen renderings like this one floating around for a few years. I've never heard anything that really confims it's a serious endeaver and has any chance of being built. I also recall the Brazil plan but somehow I think it's more of a fantasy concept. There's a similar concept of a giant Buddah somewhere in India that is supposed to be something like 500 feet tall but that's another project I've never heard another word about.

The Brazil one was like 1600 ft tall or so, but yes this is some old proposal that sunk under the radar so out it goes from P&C

The reason the building is so fat is because there are several atriums inside of the building. The vertical columns of windows running down the center of each side of the building provice light into the atriums, and each artium is separated by a floor at each of the horizontal bands on the facade. In ingenious design in my opinion.
