Center of India Tower, also known as Center of Vedic Science, is a proposed structure which when completed would be the tallest building in India and second tallest in the world behind Burj Dubai. The planned site for this building is Katangi, Madhya Pradesh. Besides being among the tallest structures, the building is set to become the largest structure in the world by mass; its estimated width being 1,111 ft and having 224 storeys. The construction of the building is being financed by Hindu spiritual leader, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. The building's design is greatly influenced by Hindu temple architecture.

I remember that one from back before SSP re-scaled all its diagrams to 1m/pixel. Shocking that they still send out press releasing over a corpse dead since last century.

It's kinda like how they're still releasing Tupac albums.

wasn't this stale proposal cancelled years ago?

unless someone can provide some fresh info that's it's back on the table, i'm gonna have to close this thread because this sub-forum is for real projects only, not stale proposal from last decade.

^ THIS is the vision for India and was proposed, but cancelled at Brazil. I don't like the design, it look too fatty...

I have seen renderings like this one floating around for a few years. I've never heard anything that really confims it's a serious endeaver and has any chance of being built. I also recall the Brazil plan but somehow I think it's more of a fantasy concept. There's a similar concept of a giant Buddah somewhere in India that is supposed to be something like 500 feet tall but that's another project I've never heard another word about.

The Brazil one was like 1600 ft tall or so, but yes this is some old proposal that sunk under the radar so out it goes from P&C

I believe that's under construction.

Yea, not into it at all.

If ever built though, it would definitely be an incredible sight to see in person.

Yea, i'm not feeling it either, i can't imagine the degree of engineering skill it would take to construct that sucker!

OMG that's ugly. Why make a tall building that looks short and fat? It's more important that a building looks tall than that it IS tall, IMO.

Isn't the promoter (Maharishi Mahesh Yogi) the same dude that influenced the Beatles, only to try to get fresh with Mia Farrow and her sister, Prudence?

The reason the building is so fat is because there are several atriums inside of the building. The vertical columns of windows running down the center of each side of the building provice light into the atriums, and each artium is separated by a floor at each of the horizontal bands on the facade. In ingenious design in my opinion.

Yet they had to slather it in silly, tacky ornament.

Kind of like a modern day pyramid. I wonder how long it would take to do a lap around that thing.
