It's pretty fantastic. Not entirely new as they played live a few places on the last tour, but it didn't sound anything like it does now.

Stereogum is hosting it here:

I tried to buy tickets wednesday, they give 6 shows in Montreal in February. Sold out in 3 minutes...

Now I have. Sounds pretty sweet, although it's hard to tell going by a poor quality radio rip. I'm sure the album will be fantastic.

many people buy tickets just because they're hot and they don't give a flying *insert any word* about music. they will be able to say to their friends with blond fauxhawks «I was at the Arcade Fire concert yesterday.. it's not very danceable but they're soooo authentic» bla bla bla.

frustration here. never been able to catch them live.

It is not far from where I live, I know they will sell 50 tickets at the door so I will try to buy some.

Meh. They're a great balance between the folks who attend concerts and comment on the phenomenal intricacies of the F#m riffs they just sensuously experienced.

very beautiful- working at the church while your family dies- haunting.

Jeff, have you had a listen to the new album by The Cape May? My money's now on them instead of Chad Van Gaalen (to put Cowtown on the alt rock map). They're like a cross between Arcade Fire, Pavement and The Blue Nile.

i thought it was a bit predictable, which isn't what i wanted to think. still looking forward though, and leaving it a chance to reward repeated listens.

it's certainly a nice song but it's nothing outstanding. Why create a whole thread about it?

Okay, but not that new or interesting. It sounds like it was derived from various other Arcade Fire songs and the lyrics are clumsy in parts.

They were here right before they became famous and I almost went but didn't. Perhaps I should have.

Have not had a chance yet, but you're not the first to make very similar comparisons.

I was wondering, what's so great about Arcade Fire?? To me, it sounds like any average emo/punk/rock/alternative band from either Toronto or Montreal. I don't like their music honestly. But music is a matter of taste :P

you can't really explain 'what's so great' about a band to a person who already doesn't like their sound.

it sounds expectable which I guess Win and Co. was going for on this 'prochain record'.... me for one i like it.

once we are all prosperous we shall all be hated anyway, en tout cas...

Heh, I agree. They are not terrible by any means, but nothing unique.

Owen Pallett did some string arrangements on Funeral. The two bands are closely linked. Anyone know if Pallett worked on this new album as well?

^^The record was recorded largely in Hungary and Final Fantasy was rather busy on this side of the Atlantic at that time, so I'm not so sure.
