Interesting Facts/Records (in own words): Pic Blanc Transmitter is situated 2650 metres above sea level, perhaps the medium wave transmitter highest situated above sea level in Europe. It was used until 1981, when the government of Andorra shut down the transmitter used for broadcasting the programme of Sud Radio, a privately owned "Borderblaster" situated in Andorra, on 819 kHz with a power of 900 kW.
Most parts of the facility are still there, but today unused.
(Note: Sud Radio broadcasts today still on 819 kHz from Gaure in France with 20 kW, see on http://perso.orange.fr/tvignaud/galerie/am/31gaure.htm , but no height values of mast are available).
