News report on downtown housing. Projected 7000 residents by this time next year. In 1999 there were only 200.

The article didn't appear. However, I searched "downtown Dallas population" and found Steve Brown's Sept. 8 article which states that 3,000 live in downtown now and the pop. is expected to triple by 2010.
Glad to hear of the growth. Any idea what the population is and/or will be by 2010 within a 2- or 3-mile radius of downtown Dallas?
Utaaah!

Here's the full link. It's a good piece. When large conversions like the Merc, Mosaic and Republic Bank tower are finished in the next year or so, downtown will be a much livlier and livable place.

I'm surprised that so few live in downtown Dallas.

Until recently downtown was basically a big, urban office park. That and the number downtown in no way reflects the urban boom immediately across the freeway where there are tens of thousands. The boom is just reaching downtown, and hopefully we see a lot more as Uptown fills.

Curious, where is the parking for these new residential projects? Underground or in a garage?
