We be more gangster than Los Angeles and NYC. :haha: I wonder why people on the Greenville Urbanplanet forum haven't posted this yet. Guess they're just too scared too. More info: http://greenvilleonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061228/NEWS01/612280319/1004

Yeah I was surprised when I heard I was more likely to get jacked in Greenville than Augusta. Man, I guess there isn't no gangster like an upstate gangster....;)

They haven't posted it because they think Greenville is an utter utopia. God forbid something like this could be happening in "clean and green" Greenville! The horror!

Of course, all the Greenvillians on the other board don't think like that (neither do you), but some do. That's pretty darn sad, and that goes for anyone who thinks like that about their city. There's a fine line between pride and delusion.

Krazeeboi (KB0679), being a newly appointed moderator on UP, you should be careful what you say on other boards now.
G-man, your emotions are up and down so often, it makes me nauseous at times.:daz: If you step back and look at the big picture, the Upstate ranks high in this regard because the rating system used is based on a percentage per 100,000 people. What is clear to anyone who knows what that means, is that there are still many more crimes committed in most of these larger metros. We unfortunately have experienced a higher percentage of them for a region our size.
I will not deny that the rating is disappointing, but living here, I can confidently assure you the city of Greenville is no where near as dangerous as any of the other cities on the list. I can tell you which "shady" neighborhoods to stay out of though, if you don't want to be at risk.

^^^I was just kidding about you guys being scared, Skyliner. I agree with you that the City of Greenville is a very safe place to live and was suprised by this ranking. I guess the bananas, the rolling eyes, and laughing weren't enough to show people that I was being sarcastic. Just don't get sick from my up and down emotions. :haha:
:haha:
OMG!!! i won't go there now w/o my AK. ;)

Hope you're keeping an AK under your bed in Columbia as their rate is even higher.

So what are the "Bad Areas" of Greenville and Spartanburg? btw, I want to live in Greer. Greer is safe and it's right in the middle.

I'm not sure about Spartanburg, but the real only bad area of Greenville, which really isn't that bad at all is the Western part of Greenville County west of downtown. Greer is a very safe place to live and there are very few to no bad spots there.

I thought getting rid of Video Poker in SC 7 years ago was supposed to decrease the level of crime, addiction, and poverty in your state? I mean it's like you guys are in a hellhole. You're Upstate.
