Roy Caroll, developer of Center Pointe has said he hasnt decided what he'll do with the plot of land next to where h e is building Center Pointe. some believe he may use it to build a future phase for Center Pointe. In the editorials of todays Greensboro New & Record. the editors had a wish list for what theyd like to see happen in 2007 and one thing on the list was "the announcement of a 30-story sister tower next to the existing building. They noted that should the units for Center Pointe sell fast that could be something Roy Caroll can consider. If he doesnt know what he will do with the land yet, that means he could be thinking what he wants to develope on the plot. The notion of the 30-story tower actually arose from a rendering that was posted on the center pointe website before he made a public announcement about the project. It was actually a rendering creaated by the webdesigner as a place setter until the actual design was reveal.

anyways here is what it would look like with a 30-story twin next to it. I did some photo shop editing.

Nice recreations.

That would mean a new tallest possibly, right?

yup, it would be the tallest building in Greensboro. The Lincoln Financtial Building is currently 26-stories tall when you include the crown. (Jefferson-Pilot). Its time for Greensboro to break the 30-story level.

Looking good urbanscraper. I hope I can FINALLY make it up to a Grasshoppers game this year and spend some time downtown. Hey, who was the former tenant of this building?

It was the old Wachovia bank building. The 16-story tower was origionally built in 1967. When the tower was first being designed in the 60s, it was suppose to be a 20-story building. consequently the foundation was built to support a 20-story tower but for some reason it was built at 16-stories. Im surprised Roy Caroll, developer of Center Pointe didnt take advantage of that and add 4 more stories to the building. But according to Roy Carroll, he plans to build another tower next to Center Pointe at some point. The north side of the building facing a vacant lot has no windows or balconies, although on the exterior there is glass that looks like windows. That is the lot Roy Caroll plans to build another tower on.

This is the origional building. It was actually painted a pink/tan color in the 1990s but origionally it was dark grey with green reflective glass.
