SINGAPORE: Keppel Land mixes business and art for the first time as it unveils its latest Keppel Bay residential development called Reflections.

The waterfront project is designed by architect Daniel Libeskind, who counts among his works the Jewish Museum Berlin and the masterplan for the New York World Trade Centre site.

The development, which is the largest in the west side of town, is expected to put a new face to world-class waterfront living.

Reflections features six glass towers and 11 villa apartment blocks totalling some 1100 units.

The project incorporates signatures of the famed architect, including use of materials like steel and titanium to reflect modern sensibilities, as well as use of other motifs like splits, criss-crossing lines and curves evocative of the natural environment.

Pending favourable market conditions, Keppel Land expects to launch up to 500 units as soon as March.

The project is slated for completion by 2011.

Now that's actually a decent Libeskind design. even if it looks like a Gehry-ized recycled WTC plan, I bet in reality it would come out to be one great looking complex, especially in its resort location.

i like that a lot. to me it is quite original.

is it me or does libeskind look like elton john?

It's not terrible looking, but it does seem to be of the "let's build it because we can, not because we should" mold.

Before I liked Libeskind because he was a civil engineer constructing bridges in the city without need to save a river or a valley.(in the models only)
At present day I don't know that to say

From an Aesthetic point of view, horrible. Like everything else by Libeskind and Gehry.

Gimme Foster, and Pei for visual stunners that never look outdated.

These look like bent penises, or something.

What's up with Libeskind?
He's one of those guys who are recognized as "genious" for I-have-no-idea reason!
He just draws some weird shaped towers....
EVERYBODY could do this, even a child, so why do people think that he is a master of design?

Look at those new towers.... they are absolutely bizarre, like they have been constructed by people who didn't have ANY construction experience. Or as if they have been bowed by the wind.

I definitely don't like it.

It seems that the whole "organic" look won't be going away any time soon, and although we're still used to right angles and no curves in our buildings, I'm guessing that once more of these zany towers pop up it won't look so bad. Really, what they're doing is creating more natural shapes, and I'm curious to see if the city of the future literally looks like a twisty, tangled forest on a massive scale.

Having said that, I still find 90% of today's proposals from our beloved starchitects to be outrageous or plain old dumb, and this one, while better than average, still gets a "WTF?" from me.

I like the garden areas toward the top. Not sure about the waviness of it though.

But seriously this is quite a complex. When is Singapore going to build a 1000 footer?

Some of Libeskinds designs I have learned to like. While I'll wait and see on this project, I doubt I'll grow to like this one. :uhh:

It's not too bad... not too good either. Better than many other Asian highrises though.

The design is cash money. It looks like blades of grass blowin in the wind.

I wish one of those towers were to be located adjacent to his new Denver Art Museum expansion! :) I think those towers look awesome!

Mommie, why is the Emperor (Libeskind) not wearing any clothing?

The Emperor (Libeskind) doesn't wear any clothing because he's putting on weight, my son.:D

His designs look like they come out of a Dali painting.

Add me to that list too. Both Libenskind and Gehry are both very overrated IMO.

My city supposedly getting a Libeskind designed tower, construction commencing in the coming months. Thank goodness it isn't something this outrageous. This design doesn't strike me as organic looking, but more like warped plastic that was in the microwave for too long.

If you'll allow the incursion of a lurker, I have to say...

...no sir, I don't like it. Kinda ugly & goofy-looking, IMHO. Maybe it's just me.

I believe I could do something similar with a small quantity of 5000 lb bombs.

I think that maybe one of those towers inserted into a dense existing streetscape with good ground level retail connections would be fantastic. At this scale, I don't like it. Totally out of context, totally inwardly focused, and totally lacking in diversity. Suburbia-writ-high.

Iffy, but Libeskind has a tendency of having his buildings look better in real life than on renders, so we'll see with this one.
