This one is just for fun....

When I lived in Ottawa, I used to drive the Rockcliffe Parkway (http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=Ottawa,+ON&ie=UTF8&z=17&ll=45.447728,-75.688559&spn=0.004734,0.015267&t=h&om=1)just 'cause it was really a nice road to drive. Nice curves, somewhat isolated, and fun to drive even at the posted speed limit (exceeding it a bit at 2 AM was even more fun. ;) )

In Victoria, I found that Wallace Dr. (http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=Victoria,+BC&ie=UTF8&z=16&ll=48.53596,-123.436975&spn=0.008937,0.030534&t=h&om=1)was a similarly cool road to drive, with Beach Drive (http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=Victoria,+BC&ie=UTF8&om=1&z=16&ll=48.438711,-123.300676&spn=0.008954,0.030534&t=h)being a close second but more for the scenery than the driving.

I haven't found a nice curvy road in Edmonton yet, so if anyone knows of one please point me in the right direction.

So what's your favourite hometown stretch of road to drive just for the fun of driving?

mOnkeyman, I suggest you taking a short drive west to the Paul Band Reserve on the east side of Wabumun (take the Kapasiwin turn off into the reserve and follow it until Sundance road). It's a really nice twisty road with some elevation changes and I've never seen a cop on it. I've pushed 230Km/h, just watch out for wild animals and local kids throwing golf balls.

mOnkeyman have you tried driving from Westmount mall to LeMarchand Mansion, U of A or Rossdale. So taking Groat Road and from there either gonig up the riverbank, across the groat bridge or Rivervalley Road. Thats always a fun drive.

Nice roads to drive in Montreal? Doesn't exist you'll encounter a pot hole :)

One of my favourite places to drive in Montreal is ile bizard there is a road that circles the island and there is barely any traffic

I used to stop there and have lunch when I worked for the province back in the day. Gorgeous view of the Red River.

For the area around Winnipeg, I would have to say the stretch of highway 207 between hwy 15 and Garven Rd. Never any cops around there.

If I knew how to insert maps on this site I would, but I don't. Check out a provincial map; it's just east of Transcona, on the way to Dugald.

I heard they were going to build a speedway near Gimli for those who like to race cars. Is this still going to happen?

I'd agree with the Rockcliffe Parkway in Ottawa - that's a a cool drive. Also the length of Colonel By along the canal is pretty nice, especially in the fall.

for Montreal, I'd say the road up the mountain.

for Winnipeg, Henderson Highway north of the perimeter up to Lockport.

Another interesting drive in Montreal would have to be highway 132 on the south shore. Starting in Candiac and all the way to Boucherville. You get to drive along the St-Lawrence with downtown Montreal on you left! Great views of the skyline!

You are missing Stratotech Raceway.

And groat is a blast.... at the legal 50km/h limit...

Across Vancouver Island to Tofino. The part across the mountains is awesome, twisty and challenging.

Or Cabot Trail. You can't beat that for scenery.

In the US, I could drive the coast highway from Oregon down to San Diego every few months and not get tired of it.

That is my all time favourite road anywhere. I've averaged 150 km/h across it. :)

I have a some what sporty little car, and I tend to frequent the country roads just west of the city. Theres a nice loop starting at old banch coach road, then across highway 1 and down into the valley.
There are only a few parts of my loop that are remote enough to get on the gas a bit. If I'm fine with driving a little further, there is a hell of a road at the end of the highway to elbow falls. With radios at either end, and in the cars you can really have a bit of fun.

If I had a sporty little car, I'd drive it on highway 22/22x SW of Calgary.

In the city, the best places to ride a bike are usually not the best to drive a car, and vice-versa.

For biking (in my case, rollerblading)
Montreal: Old-Port to Dorval border (Lachine Canal)
London: Thames riverside trails

Not my city, but how about the Bayview Avenue extension for Toronto? Drove down here last summer, it's a nice curvy road in a wooded area:

Dugald rocks!!! .....

As far as the best drive for a little sports car around the Peg... Henderson Highway to Selkirk is pretty nice.

Although Roblin Blvd west of the city is also a very nice drive.

When I was refferring to the east side of Winnipeg, I was meaning how fast you can take your car without it having too many restrictions to slow it down.
