I don't remember seeing any mention of this proposed project on this board, but today I noticed a review board posted on a small building on the NW corner of 6th and Lenora for a 40 story residential tower. Sixth Avenue could turn out to be rather dramatic in a few years with at least 3 40 story condo towers and the Sixth and Wall Tower Condo. There is also the large vacant lot north of the above mentioned site that is empty, just waiting for more condos.Sixth is the widest street in downtown north of Westlake and has the makings of a splendid boulevard oneday.

Is this the block of Capitol Music Co.?
Edit: Nevermind, doesn't sound like the same area.

The address is 2105 6th - I think it's the old liquor store. According to DPD it's been through design review. Clise is listed as the applicant.
Here's the description: Land Use application to allow a 40 story building containing 5,568 sq. ft. of retail use at ground and level 327 residential units above. Parking for 338 vehicles to be provided in 9 levels (4 above grade & 5 below grade). Project includes 27,000 cu.yds. of grading. Existing structure to be demolished.
I don't think I'd heard of this one. Anyone else?

Yeah, this has been in the DPD bulletin a couple times. Design review notices tend to come out before MUP notices/boards.
I looked it up, and it was August and November that it appeared. But it didn't really describe height -- you just had to know what the zoning is for that block and make a guess.

It's crazy how there's SO much under-utilized land in the Denny Triangle. It will probably be at least 10-15 years before all these lots fill out.
Speaking of Clise, what is going on with the 7th and Westlake project?

^Ideally a significant redesign. :)

It is DOA - their contractor (Murray Franklin) dropped out

That's one site I wish they'd let a truly dramatic 600' (big dream wish would be 700'-800') go into.

Murray Franklyn isn't a contractor, they're a developer. Anyway, generally speaking, dropping a developer (or a contractor) doesn't mean the project is dead.

A couple months ago I heard that the project was in some version of "on hold".
(DOA generally means dead on arrival if I'm not mistaken)

I'm a layman and thought that the developer was the driving force behind a project. Who is?
If a project isn't dead could it change drastically as to not resemble the original?

Oh...that seventh & westlake (I had to refresh my memory on the city compilations thread).
I've never cared for that one that one :yuck: ....Even as infill.
BTW, I can only think of one woodframe dtSeattle proj from Murray Franklin (I have always thought of them as upscale tract housing developers). Do they have more experience with multi-storey (as in concrete and steel) construction?

This property is owned by Clise, not Murray Franklyn. Clise is a developer too.

Hotel 1000.

I didn't know that.
Mad Tower/Hotel 1000 is really nice on the inside (I went to a really odd "holiday" themed party there...those cozy downtown condos fit more folks than ya'd think). The exterior is kinda "meh" though (I dunno, the black glass just doesn't do it).

I'm not much into the 7th and Westlake project. The Madison Tower can come off a bit cold, but I like the design. It's petite and blends in well with the higher surroundings. I'll have to check out the inside.

I thought it was very dark blue-gray. I did hope for lighter color glass too, but oh well...
