Birla Township
It's confirmed, i think. Birla will be investing in calicut for their township project, which will generate job for around 1 lac people, directly. It'll be near the mavoor rayons.
This is according to yesterday's Amrita top 10 news. There was an interview with industries minister Elamaram karim regarding this.

Here is a project from Calicut waiting for environmental clearance with Union govt.
The name is not given but the builder is Hi-Lite Builders Pvt. Ltd.

Can anyone help me? I need a picture of the outside of the Municipal Corporation Stadium in Calicut, the home of Viva Kerala, but I can't find pictures of the outside of the stadium. A one-million sq ft mall at Calicut ?


I thought one-million sq ft mall would cost much more than Rs. 105 cr.

4.14 Construction of Commercial Complex ?Hi-Lite Plaza? at Sy.No.22/1, 3, 4 & 5, 22/2, 3 & 4, 5/3, 4/3, Olavanna Panchayat, Near Thondyadu by-pass, Palazhi Jn, Calicut, Kerala by M/s. Hi-Lite Builders Pvt. Ltd. (No:21-304/2008-IA.III)



The project involves construction of a commercial complex on a plot area of 1.75 ha. The total builtup area is 93507.56 Sq.m. (5 basements + ground + 7 floors). The total water requirement is 192.14 KLD (fresh water requirement is 106.94 KLD). The capacity of STP proposed is 171 KLD. Treated waste water to be used for flushing of toilets 111.85 KLD, horticulture 38 KLD, AC cooling 118 KLD. Total solid waste generation will be 975 Kg/day. The power requirement is 3748.80 KW. The total parking spaces proposed are for 1144 cars + 846 two wheelers + 2 buses. Total cost of the project is Rs. 105.52 Crores.



During discussions, the following points emerged:



(i) Fresh water should not be used for HVAC. Use only treated waste water or hybrid system.

(ii) Solar PV energy should be used for corridors and basement parking area.

(iii) Entry to the project site is very near to a road junction; the proposed arrangement may be shown clearly to show right-of-way and traffic/circulation pattern.

(iv) Make provision for parking for physically challenged people.

(v) Submit NOC/permission from NHAI regarding entry/exit to NH-17 bye pass.



Provided the response of the project proponent to the aforesaid observations is to the satisfaction of the Committee, the proposal may be considered for recommendation for environmental clearance.

I had posted the environmental clearance notification for this project in the previous page.

Hilite Hills proposed is 20 lakh sq ft or 20 million sq ft (20 lakh sq mtr) ?
I guess it is 20 lakh sq ft because land area is 9 acres and FAR of 4 will permit
16 lakh sq ft approximately.

If it is 20 lakh sq ft, it will not even be one of the biggest projects in Kerala.
DLF New Town heights Kakkanad is a medium size project with near 36 lakh sq ft
on 30 acres. (This is because compared to the rest of Kerala many areas of Kochi
has less FAR since it is considered close to saturation already). Even DLF is not
thought to be the biggest upcoming project in state - though they claim so now.
DLF will be soon upstaged by many other mega projects near its vicinity.
Nitesh Wimbledon Garden is over 21 lakh sq ft, Sahara Grace is close to 30 lakh sq ft,
Shwas Aquacity is over 30 lakh sq ft and I can name many more examples.
So this Hilite project cannot be the biggest project somehow.

To my knowledge the largest built up space in Kerala state will be for ETL Infra's 1000 acre
project near Poothotta, Kochi. It is spread over 6 revenue villages in two
districts Kochi and Kottayam and will have more than 100 million sq ft. Half of this
will be an SEZ in 500+ acres. ETL is among the 10 SEZ applications forwarded to
Central govt last month. Incidently this will also be Kerala's largest IT SEZ.

Man, this is brilliant. Calicut, of course can give other cities a run for their money. And I believe this has started construction unlike we see some huge projects else where which only exists in paper.

And there is hell lot of space available along Thondayad bypass stretch- which can be developed into a kind of 'IT corridor'. I hope authorities listen

ya its comin near karaparamba..the villas are completely sold out... apartment one block's construction is over..they are doin it 24 hours..obiously it will take time since it is a mega project..

focus mall 75% work is over...shops completely sold out wid global brands like nike ,reebok,spenser etc comin...these brands retail out lets are there already in calicut...its coming at a comercial hub of calicut at mavoor road rajaji road jn...its havin a good view from all parts of the road..i will sent the pic as soon as possible..thanku..

Sorry I missed this post of yours for long.

Is this the new design of the Lesley Heights or a separate project
altogether ? At 40 floors it must be the tallest. Give us more construction
updates too.

One place to find more info on this would be Environmental clearance list - they have not applied yet, but certainly will have to apply soon. May be recession
wary.

Is this the new design of the Lesley Heights or a separate project
altogether ? At 40 floors it must be the tallest. Give us more construction
updates too.

One place to find more info on this would be Environmental clearance list - they have not applied yet, but certainly will have to apply soon. May be recession
wary.

If materialized, it will elevate Kozhikode to a forty storey South Indian city
to a alongside Bangalore (UB city) and Kochi (Choice paradise).

Kinalur Industrial park to get clearance soon

A Rs. 3000 crore industrial park by Malaysian construction company at Kozhikode (Calicut)

They seem to persist with the plan in the wake of recession, it will be a great step for
Kozhikode. Calicut certainly will have a footprint in the upcoming Rs.25,000 crore private
investment.
