What is that?

The city is building these platforms at the ends of the waterfront boat slips and bridges at the front to improve the waterfront's access and connectivity. This is probably the most extreme of the proposed wave patterns.

Not the same scale buildings as the norm in this thread but for Halifax this one is still quite impressive. Its 5552 Kaye and in the end it will be 7 storeys over the Hydrostone District. :)

These were taken last night by me. Sorry about the bad quality but I haven'e figured out how to control the fog yet ;)

here's a different kind of construction project. Grouse mountain is installing a 65m high wind turbine at the top. it will generate 2million KW of power (20% of the resorts needs).

The Montreal Concert Hall will also be a gem.

Some photos of Peninsular Halifax's fourth crane this year. According to sources on the Trillium's thread it will grow another 100 feet when its about half built to complete the 19 storey building. Its currently around 200 feet tall (photos by me);

a new public art piece was installed recently at the convention centre. very fitting :tup: I love it.

The Drop is 17 m (58 ft.) high and weighs 2,700kg and was designed by german artist Inges Idee for this international competition.

A few pictures to show the progress. The Lane way between 500 & the church is almost completed. They just have to pour the tar (I think). They are still working on the windows from 30th floor up. The smoothing of the balcony ceilings will be fully completed by the end of the day (my guess cos there's only a couple more to go), having said that we also notice the one on the 26th floor South East corner is skipped; wonder why. Here we go...

If you look carefully, there's one balcony ceiling (South East corner; unit 2604) that looks "raw" compared to the others.

BC HYDRO is installing a fifth turbine in the 1,700MW Revelstoke Dam in BC's Kootenay region. The dam was built to hold six turbines but was made operational with only four. Demand now warrants a fifth turbine and it is currently being installed. I don't know the exact capacity of the new turbine but I believe it is somewhere between 425MW and 500MW, which would bring the dam's total generating capacity up to somewhere between 2,125MW and 2,200MW. The sixth turbine would potentially bring the dam up to 2,700MW. BC Hydro's current generating capacity is 11,000 MW, more than 80% of which is produced by the utility's 30 hydoelectric power stations.

The west side of London on the Esplanade is rather "meh"

I hate the glass & mullion design on the AGA. On the other hand, the ribbon is look pretty good and I love the zinc(ish ... could also be some stone) cladding

no what yer seeing is the ilusion of a hill created bye the building its self in the renderings those arms that come out from it are acutual parts of the building ones a theater

Great pictures drum118! Nice to see the framework for the roof elements going up.

Here are some pictures of the screen in use earlier this evening during the Leafs v Bruins game. It seemed to be live. They even had some bleachers set up in the square for people to sit and watch!

...no these cranes are not for 4 towers 38, 48, 56 and 28 storeys tall...

the first 3 are for the new symphony concert hall, and the U/C tower to the right is Louis-Bohème, 28 storeys

great vancouver update

Thank you. I took those during our last stretch of beautiful summer weather. The rainy season, as if 1 to 2mm a day really counts as rain, has now arrived in Vancouver so photos over the next four or five months won't look quite so vibrant. Stay tuned though. There are lots of great projects underway and about to be launched in the Terminal City.
