I thought it might be interesting to add up the total number of floors in the ten tallest completed skyscrapers of different cities to get a different kind of feel for the scale of assorted skylines. For example:
Pittsburgh ten tallest have a total of 440 floors.
I'll do a couple other cities I pick at random for starters:
Toronto, not counting the CN Tower of course, has 543 floors.
Kansas City has 344 floors.
London, UK not counting the BT Tower has 388 floors.
Columbus, Ohio has 349 floors.
Cincinnati, Ohio has 326 floors.
Anyone want to try my game?

Detroit - 426 stories
Some might argue that, but the two Ren. Cen. office towers that face the river have 40 levels. 39 stories plus garage. The Madden building has 1 more floor on top that isn't counted on the diagrams list here on SSP.

I think Boston is also 425

^ Boston has to have more than that. It has about 4 more buildings in the 500 ft. + range than Detroit. So if Detroit has 426, that leaves me to believe that Boston has more.

Well, I guess that kind of exercice doesn't have more than a mere trivia value. Anyway, there's a big difference between the sum of floors of the ten tallest buildings, and the sum of floors of the ten buildings having most floors.
Here's an example with Paris, France: ten tallest buildings: 429 floors.
ten buildings having most floors: 444 floors
And another for Frankfurt, Germany: ten tallest buildings: 466 floors.
ten buildings having most floors: 477 floors
It should be told though that in France, the ground floor isn't counted as a story. The ground floor is called "rez-de-chaussée" and then the second floor is actually the first story. As I don't know the way they are counted on SSP, it's possible that we need to add 10 floors more to the sum but I haven't done it.
Anyway, here's a funny list ranking European cities according to the number of highrise buildings over 30 floors : Paris, France: 92 buildings over 30 floors.
Moscow, Russia: 40
London, UK: 23
Frankfurt, Germany: 21
Istanbul, Turkey: 20
Benidorm, Spain: 20
Rotterdam, Netherlands: 12
Warsaw, Poland: 11
Brussels, Belgium: 10The way Paris outclasses all other cities in this ranking may be surprising, but actually, it can be easily explained by the insane amount of residential towers which has been built in the city. Those towers aren't that tall (between 90m and 120m), but they indeed have more than 30 floors.

Well, the St. James Building will be knocked off that list w/ 45 floors. Comcast Center will have 57 floors. So you can add 12 floors to the exisiting 449. So a total of 461 at the end of this year. You are correct about City Hall dropping the total count for Philly in this category.

Teehee ;)
Actually I thought someone from Chicago should do Chicago since I figured Chicagoans would bitch about me using the "maligned" emporis data and I don't know enough to correct any inaccuracies. (You can picture that happening can't you?) I figured emporis was good enough for the other cities.
