What happened to the occasional Asheville thread? Can't find it on here.

Either way, I haven't seen much on here about Asheville lately. A summary of current and future projects and their status would be great to see.

It was mostly me doing all the posting and I felt a little silly doing that.

In summary, the hotel in Biltmore Village is coming along nicely, work is proceeding on the Pioneer Building site, a big car dealership is moving out of downtown, opening a big piece of property up for development, the city wants to build dense affordable housing near Depot Street, and the Pack Square project is chugging along. In the bad news, the Zona Lofts revealed the design they intended to build all along and it looks like a cheap 1960's college dorm. That, and the ten-story office building planned near the courthouse has shrunk to about four stories, which puts the nearby parking garage planned for the site at three stories taller.

Thanks for the updates, hauntedheadnc.

I know you are the main poster and that you do feel silly posting so much, but I come on here looking for your updates and always glad to see when something new is announced. I'm sure others value your info as well.

What exactly is the Pioneer building site? is it going to be a highrise? downtown?

Good news about the car dealership moving out. Would open up land for a possible new hotel to go in, which I believe is badly needed for downtown. I imagine a nice red brick Marriott Courtyard of about 10 floors and 200-something rooms.

Anxious to see the Pack Square redevelopment finished. Are they thinking by end of the year?

Sorry to hear about Zona. I just looked up two websites for it. I suppose the mondernist design that looks like every unit is a self-contained box is the old plan and that the new plan is the more conventional design. Sorry to find out they changed it, but the typical Ashevillian would probably prefer the new look.

Disappointing to hear about the 10 story building near the courthouse being shortened. I was really looking forward to this one.

How about the Dixon on Biltmore? Have they started it yet? Any start date for Ravenscroft development?
