Deconstruction of 189 Broadway Begins Next Week
A transit center entrance will occupy 189 Broadway
After several weeks of decontamination work, Metropolitan Transportation Authority crews will begin deconstructing the 189 Broadway building during the week of January 29th. The site, at the south corner of Broadway and Dey Street, will be the location of a new entrance to the Fulton Street Transit Center. Deconstruction of the two-story building will take approximately three weeks and will not affect pedestrian or vehicular traffic on Broadway or Dey Street.

It's basically an old existing building that will be remodeled and converted over to a train station, I believe.

There WERE some photos of this building I think before and after the change-over.
Somewhere on the forum, but I can't remember exactly where.

This is what the site looked like months ago before all the businesses closed up. I'm pretty sure that the building they are talking about is the tall one on the far right with the billboards.

this was last week. It still looked like the tall one wasn't entirely evaculated yet.

The building that you speak of, is it the one with those steel beams sticking out of it?
This is in some way, supposed to connect with the new PATH Station over at Ground Zero, right?

My sister worked as intern in that tallish building a few years ago. It wasn't all that great inside, I guess. But that's not the one being demoed.

Good. It needs some restoration work, but that's one of the more historically rich buildings in the city. I'm glad to see it's being incorporated rather than destroyed.

Completely agree. The facade is quite beautiful when all that grim is scrubbed away.

I rather like those old gritty skinny buildings of NY
