Two polls released within hours of each other now demonstrate that the Conservatives have traction and momentum.

Decima: CPC-36, LPC-27, NDP-13, Green-13, BQ-10
Angus Reid: CPC-40, LPC-26, NDP-15, Green-8, BQ-10

Both polls have statistically valid margins of error, although the Angus Reid poll was drawn from a larger sample.

Broken down regionally the Conservatives have decisive leads in BC, AB, MB-SK, and Ontario, they are running one point behind the Liberals in Atlantic Region, and are tied for second at 22% in Quebec.

Regardless of the popularity or unpopularity of the ads, they do work. Among Tories who dislike the ads its not going to change their voting habits, but among swing voters the ads are helping to define Dion as weak and ineffective.

Aside from the ads a few other factors likely explain the Tory success in the polls.
--Dion has been neutralized effectively on his most comfortable ground, the environment, and is floundering out of his comfort zone.
--The Liberals have inexplicably tacked left into crowded territory, leaving that nice juicy centre the party has so effectively occupied for decades open to be exploited by Harper.
--So-Con Conservative MPs and the other "crazies" in caucus are still locked in the basement with the pickles.
--The economy remains strong and it is almost always about the economy (except the last time when it was about "time for a change").
--Although not at the same level of importance as the previous points, Dion's English is weaker than many thought and is a problem in Ontario.

The Conservatives released the Clean Air Act which was something to trick Canadians into thinking that the right cared about the enviroment, but when we look at what it is:
It is to reduce emissions %40 of 2003 by 2050 but not until 2020!!?!

In case you hadn't heard a new environmental strategy is being roled-out. In any case the CAA targets were actually realistic in that they recognized the length of time it takes to replace vehicular fleets and replace energy infrastructure and manufacturing assets.

In any case, Canadians, all too eager to accelerate CO2 reductions, are about to get their wish. No one should therefore be surprised when they see that there will be a huge personal cost to their activism.

Letting Big Oil continue to pollute for another 20 years?

Do you have electricity in your home? Do you drive a car? Do you take public transit to work? Do you take a hot shower in the morning? Big oil is meeting a market demand.

And just to address the clear evidence of your ignorance, big oil is intelligent enough to understand that lowering energy output is good business sense and good corporate social responsibility. Integrated energy companies have reduced the energy required to produce energy substantially enhancing their profits and continuing to promote the proliferation in sustainable practices. I could point to numerous companies in the Canadian Oil patch, but perhaps Shell stands out, they met their Kyoto requirements two years ago.

Well at least he is better than Bob Rae. If Rae becomes Prime Minister, I'm leaving the country.

its all good only if Harper wins a majority.

If he stays as a minority i will be fine.
