I hope this thread will act as a forum to exchange India (to begin mostly Kerala) comments and avoid tedious, long discussions from showcase threads.

Mr paul, btw I didn't get what you mean by tantrum. If you meant TVM, it is not regarding TVM alone, we make it a point regarding all cities and all threads..

Such posts will be deleted. And it doesnot stop with deletion, If such things continue we will use the brig/ban options also..Thats how a forum is well run..

Hope you got my point..:)

Good that this thread has started serving its purpose.

Once the steam is let off people can think with clear head. :)

I dont think posts in this thread need to be deleted unless the red line of abuse
is crossed. Criticisms, however scathing, are primarily what is expected in this.

Many projects announced in Kochi are on hold because we have such a Great Government here , Investors would rather commit suicide than put their hard earned money in kerala under this present govt. . It is applicable to all places in kerala. ( be it Vishinjam , There is no Central givernment support for it , really dont know what our govt is going to do with that project , they should first garner Central support else, that project will never materialise . I heard that Balu is all set to Take off Kolachel Port , Once that thru , Then it could well be all over. because there wont be any hinterland cargo movement to Vishinjam . and They cant run a port just based on International cargo. Will any one come to ship their goods in a state where th
I read on of the collegue was refering to Vallarpadam geting dumped if Kolachel goes off , That is surprising , I donot know what made him say that.
My collegue also knows well there is no support for Vishinjam from Centre , so he just expressed his frustration . I can understand that. Well personally I want Vishinjam to take off. I am only against comparing Kochi with other cities ,. that is purely nonsense.

Kochi has more advantage , many of the players have acquired Land in Kochi
more important ,
1. Unitech
2. DLF
3. Purvankara
4. Parsvnath
5. Lulu
6. Sobha
7. Prestige.
We still follow the culture of hartals,Bandhs, strikes . We are yet to see what the Outside world is and how fast they are going. We wasted 3 years doing discusion on smart city after having spend lot of time and Money we came to a conclusion that Smart city is not needed!!!!. I cant Imagine Mumbai coming to Halt because of Strike or Hartals. Why cant we think that way.
We should always remember , Kerala has extremely bad impression in the business community, so even if some one descide to invest in kerala they will take many factors into consideration like Man Days Lost in strik/ bandhs .
So definitely they will need more concession on many aspects to cover up such loss of revenue and reputation . Many of our government do not know the value of Reputation in business .
Its time every keralite should think .
WHY DO WE ALWAYS RESORT TO STRIKES? Communist beleifs are very old , even russia , china all are marching ahead on investment front. Even West Bengal , Buddadebh is firing on all cylinders to attract investments despite agitations. But in kerala, LDF have diff views

Hmmmm....a dated news item. Any update. As far as we have seen, the L&T IT park is still looking for tenants, despite L&T Infotech coming in to occupy some space. Does it mean HP has downscaled its plans?

this is what ajaypp is all about.

Already it is written in the news item that HP may get only a few floors at Tejomaya.
In fact HP plans to start its own campus in Kochi with 5000 professionals. By then pathetic "pp" has conjectured "HP scaling down" :haha: :haha:

First "BPO" , now "scaling down" , what's up next fromt the desperate resident :jester:
BTW, all this is generated in this brain, the little space there can be put to much useful purposes than forming conjectures of "Kochi collapse" :haha: :haha:

Let's see things as they pan out. I hope all of these millions of sft don't go the "Smart" City way, from drawing board straight to trash bin!

Not even Smart City is out, as many more investors have come forward other than DIC, before that ajaypp is desperately praying that all other projects
for which the investor has already purchased land and got designs and even SEZ status, does not take off - becoz - only then will Kochi reduce to the "status" of our crony capital.
Pathology

BTW, the consolation park for the crony capital, Technocity, has found no takers. Even land has not been acquired. Now
The Hindu reports that the wastage of tax money on the "Hitech zone" in Trivandrum will be avoided as the proposal made one year back has not moved an inch. Federation of RATS have started crying :D

Compared to that all the private sector IT parks proposed in Kochi are miles ahead. All of them have land ready and many have got designs and SEZ status too. Importantly, most of them need no govt assistance, or sanction, except a recommendation for SEZ status.

I think you have it mixed up with the 450,000 sft campus they are building in Technopark? There are no plans for any such Cochin campus on the IBS site which only talks about leased space for about 300 employees taken in the Leela building.

this is another quote, from ajaypp. What was stark was that the news item posted just above this comment mentioned that IBS is starting a campus on 400,000 sqft and they have taken possession of a 4 acre land at Infopark just a month back.

Tiniest bit of dignity would make anybody shut up if not to apologize. But here is what followed

Lol, but the only construction happening is for the 450,000 sft campus at Technopark. So this one is still on the drawing board, isn't it?

They were allotted land just last month and he expects the construction to start
the very next month. To see positively, he expects construction to start that fast
in Kochi. Good. Becoz, Infosys took months to get the work move in Trivandrum :D !! Kochi will not disappoint you, ajaypp.

People are much worried about Kochis progress in IT . I can see that in many posts made. Just the fact that people from other cities are coming and expressing their displeasure makes it more evident that "Indeed Many are worried " . I really do not understand why people from other cities come and post in Kochi thread.
Some justification given is People are not supporting / criticising TVM in Kochi forum, well I can only say that it is a Kochi forum . and that I guess answers your queries.
People should appreciate the pace at which Kochi is growing , If it can feature in Top 10 Hottest destinations of 2007. We must be happy that atleast a city from Kerala features in that List. And if it is making strides in IT field , dont be jealous , It is bound to happen.
What I noticed is in Kochi atleast some people are announcing Mega projects, why they are not doing in other parts of kerala. Implementation - Its a diff q? . Its bcoz of the present govt many projects are on hold. The point to be noted here is Most of the players have acquired land in Kochi .
On implementation side What is the status of Vishinjam , Techno city ?
Will that ever get implemented ? Without central govt support Vishinjam will be a failure. I read in TVM thread once that a person was so eager to see Vallarpadam in Coffin. Take care of Vishinjam man, If a port come 40 km away and it comes in a investor friendly state like Tamilnadu , Just imagine will any one prefer to come to kerala where there is Hartals / Bandhs / Strikes Trade unionism and above all ruled by LDF !!!! Its very doubtful. . How much you can run with a techopark ? why No private players are announcing any private IT parks in other parts of kerala.
Another feather in Kochi crown - LNG terminal is begining !!!!

I'm basically from Kochi and have stayed in almost all the cities of Kerala & India. Onething i know Kochi is growing; but other cities are also growing. Don't try to underestimate any city in cluding Trichur or Kottayam .Now kochi is become congested and people are leaving from there due to shortage of water, mosquitos, garbage, traffic problems etc…. I don’t think any other Kerala city has all these probs. Correct me if I’m wrong. The forumers are proudly posting the new projects coming up in kochi but in fact I’m worried about the future of the residents. Govt should take immediate steps to solve these primary issues. Last week Asianet Cinemala ( please note that the artists are from Kochi only) was showing the pathetic situation of Kochi.

Please don't feel bad i'm writing the real fatcs.....
Cheers :worship:

You guys will either have to start talking about skyscrapers and urban development, or you will talk about nothing.

Rule #1 about not getting into stupid arguments on this forum: Thou shalt not say anything bad about another city. Once you say something bad about another city, someone from that city will invariably come along to try to defend it . . . and it all goes downhill from there.

ALL OF YOU INDIA FORUMERS WILL FOLLOW THIS RULE. Understood?
