If anybody is interested there is an ad with the rendering of the building in todays Toronto Star on page A12. You have to admit it looks good. Only time will tell if he can pull this one off. I only hope he goes with a good marketing company this time. The ad in todays paper makes me think not however.

Please do not re-post this image.

for sure a hell of a lot better than "dubai towers" which was one of the intermediate designs.

Why did Harry even buy this project? It was supposed to have started 4 years ago, as the Graphics Art Tower or something, then the Toronto Tower. Its been so long I've forgotten. Oh well Harry bought it, and its been a doomed property ever since.

Here is the picture supplied to us by Cassius, over at SSC. I think it is way less gimicky than the ball on a cylinder version, thus will age more gracefully. From what I can see, the front is stepped, and will catch the sunlight nicely. Adds a much needed punch of vibrant colour for the area:

Now, as long as it can actually get built....

How tall is that going to be?

We are waiting for confirmation from Cassius. I'm guessing around the 60 mark.

And the height?
Must have been a bi**h for you knowing all this stuff and being sworn
to secrecy!! LOL! I must say, the result has been more than worth the wait.

Personally, i dont like the colour. Its too garish, im not a big fan of vibrant buildings. Even scotia i wish was slightly less red. Its still much better than the ball-topped one though.

WHISTLERINMUSKOKA

Doubt it's that blue if and when built.

Taller Better it'll be around 203m or hmm hmmm 666 ft:eviltongue:

Scotia is not red like that in real life. It is just that colour in the rendering. I think a bright blue building would look amazing there.
Thanks for the height info, Whistler!

No I meant the double cylinder one with the round ball on top.:haha:
This new design's starting to grow on me though.

I like this render but will it be seen on the skyline when viewing from lake ontario?

Nope but its presence will be felt at Nathan Philips Square. Will make for nice pictures from the rink/fountain.

I doubt too it will be that blue/green. I think its got more to do with cheap marketing pictures. The glints on top are a bit much. Still, gone is the disco ball. Its okay. - ice

I would have preffered the original sans the ball.

Stitson in Hamilton!? That's probably a good move for him. And good for Hamilton as well. His designs are questionable to say the least but he does a pretty good job with conservation of old buildings.

He can be a huge drama queen though... tread carefully, my dear Hammerheads.

Who'd be dumb enough to give him funding for this thing? Harry's buildings never work out (1KW has enough problems) and this will only result in disappointment for Hamiltion. The best thing would be to restore the original building into condos/hotel instead of trying to shove some giant tower into it.

That's the main thing, and the only thing that I personally want. I mean, who DOESN'T want a new tallest? But 70-80 stories is highly unlikely. The idea of the tower (whether it's REALLY Sapphire or not) is completely dependant on the sales/success of The Royal Connaught once restored.

If Harry can bring the Connaught back to it's grandeur, then that is damn fine by me! :D

Just pray for Harry to get the Hotel right, before you delude yourselves into dreams of 80 storey towers.

BTW: Toronto is just now getting it's first 80 storey tower. (1BE) And it hasn't even started construction yet. - That should give you Hamilton Forumers a measuring tape or a ruler to check your progress against.

Aura is close right?? 75 floors or something?
Yes, we are all just hoping that the hotel part works out and is done up right. It's one of those landmark Hamilton buildings that everyone loves.
If he's somehow able to pull off a huge tower later on, that's just gravy.
I wouldn't mind if we landed an 80 story tower just after you guys....heck, maybe we'll get ours first and you guys can use that to measure your progress against! haha.
I'll have to check out the page for 1BE. Haven't seen any info on that one.
Aura looks pretty sweet IMO.

Here, here. Until shovels are in the ground, I'm not holding my breath on this one.

Although I feel that this design is far superior to the previous ones.
