I think it is....but the name might have changed. I don't believe it will be a "Twelve" brand anymore...

Noone took over.. It's still a Novare project. It was reported that Novare is talking to several luxury hotel opertators to run the hotel and the Ritz is rumored to be one of them.

How is it going to block Aqua's north view? It's 4-5 blocks north and across from the already existing One Atlantic Center.

I love this, but I don't like how it lessens One Atlantic Center's dominance on the skyline.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Trump Atlanta will be two blocks due north of it so its view to the south will be blocked as well.

1180 Peachtree St is such a wonderful building. Would I want another rendition down the street? Heavens no. If the building is to look like that it will be absolutely dreadful. Maybe if it was a darker color would I find it pleasing. Not as it is in that picture. I am, however, well aware that the above picture is merely a rough rendering. A really, really rough rendering I would hope.

I really don't see how this would cheapen 1180 in anyway. Besides the color (blue) and the shape (rectangular) there aren't many similarities. While 1180 opens up at the top, this building narrows at the top. While 1180 has two vertical parallel window clusters, this has a bottom section and a top section with the top section including balconies. I think if 1180's uniqueness requires you to object to all blue rectangular highrises, you should re-evaluate what it really is you like about 1180.
I think that 1180, or any buildings, lasting power is measured not by how it stands out when it is built but how it stands out many years later after other buildings are built around it, even ones that borrow from its design. The Chrysler building in NY is a good example of a building with staying power. It still stands out after hundreds of buildings have been built borrowing from its unique design elements.

Noone said it would cheapen the look of 1180 Peachtree. I think a previous poster did say it would "lessen" One Atlantic Center's dominance on the skyline. I can see how one can feel that way since the IBM tower has been an icon since it was completed.
Since I did not use the term cheapen in my response, I will not make this post a rebuttal of your post. I will add that I am not a fan of the Twelve Midtown design. Well it's not actually going to be a Twelve anymore correct? This is odd to me because I really like the Trump World Towers in New York City. It's something about it's simplicity and stature that lends an air of elegance to it. Since the rendering of the Twelve is rough, I will reserve my opinion until I can see something more concrete.
Maybe in the picture above it's too wide and appears bloated. Maybe a few stepbacks would make it more appealing. I say add twenty more floors from the top...stepped back of course...and go for the gusto. 1180 Peachtree appears different depending on the location from which you are viewing it. From the renderings I have seen of this building, it appears less visually pleasing.
Of course that's only my opinion and any opinion shared by this poster does not represent the opinions of the moderators or the administration of this website. :P

I'd love to see the tower built but I'm not a fan of the design either. I agree it will compete rather jarringly with One Atlantic and also, at least from the angle in the pic above, be an odd mate for 1180 Peachtree. However, I will say that I think the rather bizarre juxtaposition of the Novare tower against the other two will most likely only be temporary, given that the composition of the Midtown skyline is going to continue to evolve and mature as new buildings are added. That said, I remain a proponent of the building and hope to see it come to fruition.

guys - there are 2 pictures of it on the atlanta project thread. it looks outstanding imo. it has a subtle defference to the ibm tower i think - the patterning of the mullions & windows. i also think it looks great from the east / west perspective. and i really like the height - it won't 'block' ibm from most perspectives from afar.
