View Full Version : Meth Clinic having negative effect on Eastern downtown Toronto

Any of you Toronto guys worried about the Meth Clinic that has opened in downtown Toronto near King and Parliament?

My sister has a business on King Street just east of Parliament, and she is really accepting and understanding of people in tough situations. However she has seen a change in the neighbourhood since a Meth Clinic has opened.

Since the meth clinic has opened, troubled people have been walking King east of Parliament, yelling at other people walking down the street, they have been deficating on property right across from my sisters studio, and even been doing drug deals. All while a police station is not even a block away. The police seem to do nothing.

This is not good for Corktown, just when it was starting to see a renaissance.

My sister has had guys from the meth clinic stand in her window and stair in and do weird things while she is conculting with clients. That does not look for business.

Anyway I have told my sister that she should band together with the other business in the area and demand that the police start to actually patrol King East, and that if the city councillor do something about this clinic if the problems persist.

I know we have to fit these clinics somewhere. But I don't think we need to tolerate seeing guys taking a crap on King Street, and doing other stupid things like that.

Your views on this?

sounds pretty bad

a METH clinic is nothing more than a bandaid solution and surrounding businesses should not have to suffer because the political will for something more drastic is not there

better to just pay the police for extra patrols

Thats what my sister has said. She said the people end up getting addicated to this meth stuff, so they still are addicted to a drug.

I think the problem is worse in that area because east downtown is already home to the majority of social services for Toronto. So adding a meth clinic just adds to the problem of keeping people in trouble in all one area and making a sort of ghetto of mental illness, homelessness, etc.

Sorry your sister's business is close to there, but that's actually a very good spot for a meth clinic. Close to the Government, Kool house complex where alot of the addicts go to hang out all night.

Hey, hey to City councel for making a meth clinic close to where it's needed.

Ah, anecdotal evidence -- the most reliable kind!

I assume you're talking about a *methadone* clinic, not a clinic that hands out crystal meth.

You sound a little too excited about the new clinic, lol.
