MAX rapid transit - $22 million

The Music Hall at Muni Auditorium - $15 million
etc etc sub-$15M projects.

this is just the tip of the iceberg. perhaps just as importantly, there are more small-scale neighborhood improvements - small business owners rehabbing old buildings, etc. very exciting time for downtown KCMO. note that this does not include the midtown or Plaza area, which have been undergoing lots of changes as well, for example the $200M Nelson-Atkins Museum expansion project, West Edge, myriad residential, etc. (probably $500M in development)

Perhaps, more importantly.

It looks like things are really taking off in KC. Very cool.

Good Info... but Is this new news?
Who released the list? Link / graphic?
Is rapid Transit included in tangible "developments/construction"?
Which of these are "approved", "under construction", or "proposed"? Which are most likely to be completed?
What is the timelines on completion?

Thanks.

A large part of the list is either under construction or recently completed. I don't think any of them are just "proposed" although a few are still working out details of the plans.

"In all, the boom totals some $7 billion worth of construction, most of which has either just been completed or will be during the next 12 months."

This according to sixnewthings.com a national website which names Kansas City as one of 2007's most intriguing new things.

Yeah, Omaha has some nice things going on. Good for you. Congratulations.
However, it is ridiculously immature to try to turn this into a competition.

Besides, the two cities can't even compete, they're not in the same league. Much like the AAA Omaha Royals, that city has always been, and will continue to be our minor league "farm team".

Ok you got me started. First of all one man from OMAHA can pay for all 7b of the development in that place and i dont even have to say his name. Who lives in Kanas City oh i forgot even you moved from that dump.Like i said before there trying to do things we have allready done and they cant compete. and on that royals thing I wouldnt go watch either of those teams and the Omaha royals are better.

Everthing there trying to copy

QWEST CENTER - SPIRNT CENTER and it dont even compete
HOLLAND PERFORMING ARTS CENTER - what ever the name of that place is

And by the way you need to check out WALLSTREET TOWER OMAHA happens to be a Kanas City company they must see more here than there

By the way

OMAHA population 414,521 growing at 6.3 persent
KANSAS CITY population 444,965 growing 0.8 persent do the math

I'm not the one that started this- and I really wasn't looking to get in a childish debate about Omaha, becuase it really is of no significance to me- but, if you're going to bring up population, you have to look at the entire Metro:

Omaha: 819,246
KC: 1,947,694

The metro, as a whole, is growing at 6 percent, the same rate as Omaha.

Since the point of this thread was to mention the total amount being spent in KC right now (7 Billion), why don't you give the info on how much is being spent in Omaha? I really am curious (and not because I want to have a competition between the two).

And yes, I moved from KC, but only becuase I'm currently getting my master's degree. I've met at least a dozen people in KC who had moved there from Omaha or Lincoln. I haven't known a single person who moved from KC to Nebraska.

Ron2186 on SSP = JoeMoney on KCSkyscrapers.com ???

I don't know if it is the same guy, but his "First of all one man from OMAHA can pay for all 7b of the development . . . " seems very much like the childish comments made by a certain Omaha resident on the KC forum.

IF it is him, best to ignore. Hell, even if it isn't, best to ignore.

Bye little ronnie. Troublemakers get banned.

It's exciting to hear about KC growing. I haven't been there in nearly 20 years. (Wow, has it been that long? This was my four-month Greyhound tour of the country after high school.)
