My experience at the Gaslamp Quarter is a bit limited, but everything I've done there has been a great time. For New Years, I went to the Red Circle, which is a pretty cool place. I've also been to a couple of the Irish Bars as well as Rock Bottom pizza. I really like the idea of the Strip Club too.
Anyways, my favorite thing so far downtown was the happy hour at the Bitter End. My fiance and I ate and got drunk for under $30. I wish they had those prices up here in LA.

There are so many bars in the Gaslamp that they have to compete with their neighbors during happy hour. In LA you practically have to drive to the next place making it easier for them to price gouge. Don't be fooled though, happy hour at Rock Bottom Pizza is a far cry from the price of a drink at Chive or the W or "bottle service" at a place like Stingaree. Everytime I was at Stingaree I spend about $30 for 2 gin & tonics. J Six has decent prices on drinks and is on the roof of Hotel Solamar.

I'm there nearly every year in the summer - the ESRI Conference is held there which I typically attend. I love the Gaslamp Quarter, a good collection of bars & restaurants that you normally don't get to visit. Fortunately, not completely overrun by major chains or Hard Rock Cafes. Basically - a really good convention-oriented entertainment district that should appeal to the locals as well.

I went to On Broadway for New Years a couple years ago, which was fun in that typical clubby kinda way. Walking through the Gaslamp is always a weird experience because its renaissance is so recent. I remember not too long ago when locals would never step foot in the Gaslamp Quarter.

Too bad J Six was closed on Friday night when I was staying at the Solamar! :( I didn't have the credit limit to go to Stingaree, but my friend and I still managed to have a good time Friday night without breaking the bank! Haha

Try Big Wangs (yeah I know it sounds bad but it’s not) on Cahuenga for the cheapest bar in town. Literally. All draughts for $3.30. Never seen a cheaper bar. Plus there food is good and cheap too.

I'm wondering how the Gaslamp District compares to a place like Old Town Pasadena. They're both historic and offer a variety of bars/restaurants.

Blows it out of the water.
Anyways, I'm going to party in the gaslamp today. :)
It's a party hosted by a fraternity, so over 18 is a-ok.

^ Oh really! It didn't seem that way the last time I went, but I guess you've compelled me to try it out again! :)
