It's been very cold around Hamilton lately, offering a perfect opportunity for some winter photos. Temperatures have been as low as -20 C, so even waterfalls have frozen solid!

First, a look at Tiffany Falls a couple weeks ago, the people there were taking lessons on ice climbing.

These photos are from the very beautiful Spencer Gorge which is part of the Niagara Escarpment, and only a couple of minutes from my house in Dundas.

at the opening to the gorge (standing about halfway up the escarpment)
VIA rail travels along these tracks, offering passengers a great view of Dundas and Hamilton

Spencer's Creek winding along. Mostly frozen, it normally rages.

Webster's falls, the pano doesn't quite give the proper perspective, but cool nonetheless

A closeup of the waterfall, it's difficult to see, but there was still some water falling

Another waterfall near Ancaster (another part of Hamilton) in January, just before the really cold weather hit.

Some gorgous phot's in there. Ice falls always make dynamic subject matter, even if they are static. I love getting out to the mountains to whewre the big flows reside.

This one is superb: http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k28/segaert/winter/00003.jpg

Cool pics! Waterfalls look so cool when they are frozen, one of my favorite things to look for when driving through the mountains in winter.

Huh, ice-climbing! That's the last thing I'd ever try. I hate climbing (afraid of heights) and I hate to be cold... Anyway - great photos. I specially like the third one, and the second to last.
