good...i'm gonna send my cousins over to your country to leech off your social security and welfare then
The Republic of Amerigo does not believe in social nets, you succeed or it's off to mandatory labor in the uranium mines! That's our welfare.
You'd be surprised how well a five-year can wield a pick ax.

Some twat declared war against me. Would it be possible to get some aid and completely annihilate him? Hes small and without alliance so this should be easy. I'd appreciate it because hes destroying my already crappy country.

I sent him a stern warning to stand down and offer peace or else.
Let's give him a chance to react and make an intelligent decision before blowing him up.

so, if someone declares war againt me, they will get a warning as well? if so, i will opt out of the peace only stance

Don't warn this guy. I tried to recruit him to the MAD alliance from another forum and he backstabbed me. I'd appreciate it if we blow him to high hell. At least, our policy doesn't have to be written in stone.
A stern warning won't do a thing. I've already antagonized him enough with PMs since he attacked me that there is no way he will back down.
Cirrus
Mar 6, 2007, 9:49 PM
OK. If you're in range go after him.
But everyone be sure to maintain at least TWO open aid slots, so if the aid chain reaches you you'll be able to both receive and send it on. A couple of you need to maintain 3 open slots. You know who you are if in the aid instructions email I asked you to forward to two different people.

Check his soldier count now
"You cannot attack Fenella at this time because their battle odds are at 0% and are not high enough to fight your forces. The government of Fenella has just been sent into Anarchy due to their lack of security forces. Riots engulf the nation of Fenella as your soldiers relax and enjoy their victory. "

You can view all wars MAD is involved in HERE (http://cybernations.net/search_wars.asp?searchstring=Declaring_Alliance%2CReceiving_Alliance&search=mutually+assured+defense&anyallexact=all).
New Hebrides and Mekontia have already launched counter attacks on Fenella, which means there's one slot remaining available.

Yep - he had 3 tanks and 63 troops and now has no tanks and -8 troops! I got $500 or so off him and lost 33 of my troops. He's still got a good amount of cash in the bank ($10000) so I think he'll be back if he has any citizens left.

heheh yeah. I believe hes in a draft situation with -7 soldiers.
He took out some 2/3 of my military, sent me into anarchy for a week, lowered my infrastructure, razed land, etc.
I don't care though because hes much worse off. Kick him while hes down tomorrow if he decides on buying more soldiers.
Cirrus
Mar 6, 2007, 10:07 PM
You shouldn't be stuck in anarchy a whole week. I think it only lasts like 3 days.

i've got some info that might shatter me
You [Fenella]have been attacked by Rufus the Red. You lost 14 soldiers and 1 tanks. You killed 7 soldiers and 0 tanks. Their forces razed 0.650 miles of your land, stole 0.515 technology, and destroyed 0.426 infrastructure. Their forces looted $0.00 from you and you gained $9,846.77 in your enemy's abandoned equipment. In the end the battle was a Victory.
hes got at least 10,000. I'm guessing 20,000 and I know the first thing he'll do is put it all into his army (god knows he could care less about his own national happiness). He is 100% devoted to ruining my gaming experience.
edit:
I just bought 162 soldiers with that money. If there's anything left of my nation tomorrow I will send them all at you. xoxo
This is reassuring. so is the plan, have him completely annihilate me now? Or have one of the big guns take him out before he can get to me? siighhh
Attrill
Mar 7, 2007, 1:57 AM
His population is a huge limit on how many soldiers he can get, but he does have at least a 10 tech. I'll keep pounding on him as best I can. He had about $8000 when I last attacked him.
Cirrus
Mar 7, 2007, 3:17 AM
Big nations can't go to war with him. Only countries up to twice his strength.

Mar 7, 2007, 3:54 AM
Yeah. Good lesson there: When at war, try NOT to have a lot of extra cash on hand.
Clevelumbus
Mar 7, 2007, 5:54 AM
Yeah, i figure it isn't important to buy troops and weapons until you are at war. So I guess once you get a semi decent cash flow, save 5 to 10 thousand just in case you are attacked, and then spend it all on troops and weapons.
Attrill
Mar 7, 2007, 6:26 AM
Once you've gone to war with someone can you build yourself to a point where you can no longer attack them since they are out of your range? I'm at roughly twice the power of Fenella and I don't want to build my country up if it means I'll won't be able to attack him anymore.
I just attacked him again - he has to buy himself a new army again. His tech level is now 9.8 or so, he has $7000 cash, and has 177 supporters (all citizens I assume, since there are -17 soldiers). So I guess that's a max of 140 soldiers he can field?

Cirrus i'm sure knows better than I do, but in my last war against chachaland I think he grew to be more than double my size, but the war didn't stop until peace was declared.
Cirrus
Mar 7, 2007, 2:46 PM
That's correct, BNA. Once at war your strength formulas do not matter. You will remain at war until peace is declared, or until a week has gone by, regardless of strength range.
Only after peace is declared does the game re-evaluate your range to each other.
TheMeltyMan
Mar 7, 2007, 8:44 PM
So what about after 7 days? Will the range be reevaluated then?
We're learning so much from the merciless slaughter of my nation. Anyone care to spare a 100 troops so I can counterattack? I've got nothing here. Plus "Peaceland420" just broke off my most valuable trade so my population could use a shipment of Prozac.
Cirrus
Mar 7, 2007, 8:56 PM
I didn't realize you were doing that badly. Thought the situation was basically under control. Sorry.
The problem with getting another nation to declare war on him is that the next couple of most powerful countries in range just received their monetary aid packages today, so if they attack him even if they destroy his soldiers he'll probably make out better by stealing money from them. Unless they spend it all before attacking, but then they won't be in range anymore.
And your aid slots are all full, so nobody can send you soldiers. Unfortunately there's not much we can do except continue pounding him w/ the two countries already at war. How are they doing?
And yes, after 7 days the range is reevaluated.
After the war we'll help you rebuild, too. Don't worry.
Cirrus
Mar 7, 2007, 9:06 PM
Keep tabs on how much money you've lost in the war. We will demand reparations from him. If he doesn’t pay, we’ll attack again with three new countries.
TheMeltyMan
Mar 7, 2007, 9:15 PM
Alrighty. I like the plan Cirrus. I assume the man would owe me 75,00 - 100,000 after this is all over because my per capita income went down about 75%, but I doubt hes got any diplomats on his staff so reparations from a troll might be a bit doubtful.

As long as start arming our soldiers with guns instead of buckets of gold, I think things will shape out nicely. This is a good training session. I feel like a martyr.
in other news, I convinced El Corea to join the alliance and told him to read the charter and I also gave him the abridged version: don't provoke war without alliance approval.

Hey Cirrus, perhaps we should consider putting one final post with a link to the MAD forum, and locking this thread so we can funnel everyone into one spot? And then perhaps we could get this (or even just the link) stickied over here so it always has visibility for recruiting purposes.

FYI to anyone looking to join: Registration for new members is currently offline because CyberNations is embroiled in a massive war (MAD is neutral) and the powers that be don't want warring nations creating duplicates.
Registration will be back up in a week or two, most likely.
I am continually amazed by how serious some of the issues surrounding Cyber Nations are, such as hackers attacking the game, or using keylogger programs to hijack other nations.
I have no idea where this thread went. I had to search for it. I still could not find it for the life of me.
