Sunday February 25.
A friend and I went on a short drive in my Subaru to a blown art glass studio deep in the woods about 45 minutes north of Boise. I brought my camera along to take some pics of a beautiful and snowy Sunday morning drive.
Highway 21 leading east and north out of Boise is called the Ponderosa Pine Scenic Byway.

Just outside of Boise city limits along the Boise River Greenbelt and the mouth to the Boise River Canyon.

Wonderful shots! Dramatic, crisp and clear. By the third snow pic, I had to stop and put on a sweater before I could continue!

Whoever owns the red bike won't be happy when he leaves the java shop and finds a flat rear tire!

Very nice, we have a family friend which lives out in that area, so I've been there a number of times. He hold us once that one morning when he was coming into Boise the Bridge had a herd of deer on it, blocking the progress of traffic. A women driving in front of him honked her horn in hopes to move them along, instead many of them jumped over the edge in fear :sly:

awesome shots :)

Beautiful. As someone who has never seen snowy mountains, I appreciate those.

Thanks.

What kind of "blown glass" are you talking about? :sly: I have a friend who blows glass for a living and is very good at it.

Nice work as always. The pictures are mysterious and haunting because the mountain tops are obscured in clouds. Beautiful landscapes.

Thanks for enjoying the pics. I might be heading to Sun Valley in a couple of weeks for a weekend and will try and get some pics of the big mountains and post some here.

Rocky Canyon--2 miles from downtown Boise at the base of the Boise Mountains. This is a popular area for fitness crazed Boise to mountain bike, hike, and rock climb and also popular for jogging. The foilage may be dormant now but as Spring nears the creek and canyon floor becomes very lush until the leaves turn in the Fall.

If you are near Saint Lukes Hospital, turn on Reserve Street towards the mountains and it eventually becomes Shaw Mountain Road. Follow this street until you intersect with Table Rock Road. Shaw Mountain veers down behind the homes and winds and curves towards Rocky Canyon. This is the same canyon and road the Race To Robie Creek is on.

Great addition of another canyon Sawtooth. I hope you plan on posting some pics of the mountains this spring and/or summer. Idaho has one of the most striking and beautiful variety of landscapes.
