Does anyone have any suggestions of cool places to stay for a short trip to San Diego?
Thanks in advance!

the Omni and the W are good choices too if you can afford it.

Manchester Grand Hyatt would be my first choice if money didn't matter.

I actually just got back from a quick visit to SD yesterday and stayed in the Gaslamp Plaza Suites. The rooms are quite nice and all a little different from one another. I believe I read the building was the first skyscraper (coming in at a whopping 11 stories) in San Diego. But the rooms are reasonably priced, free rooftop breakfast (continental) and it's walking distance to just about everything you would want to go to including the trolley.

^ When I was there it definitely wasn't packed. But that was also early March mid week. But the place looks nice inside and they added the rooftop area since I had first stayed there.
