View Full Version : Question about Fenway Park?

Never been to Fenway and am going in April.

Question: has anybody ever sat in the Right Field Roof Boxes? That's where my seats are. They are in Section 21 right up against the suites. How 'obstructed' might the views be from there? Can't be any worse than old Tiger Stadium, where I sat behind a pole many times.

Also, am I going to get yelled at for bringing in a DSLR to the stadium? Do I need to bring a pocket-filling 'point and shoot' instead?

view is not obstructed at all. kinda crummy seats though. stadium in general is crummy. And you're going to have issues bringing anything into the stadium that is not a wallet, cell phone, or hat.
Have fun!

Fenway is quite intimate and one of the best places to see a MLB game in the league. Although it's refurbished, it's old. It's well integrated into a very urban neighborhood instead of a giant parking lot. There are lots of bars and restaurants around for before and after the game. You can bring the same things into the game as you can into any professional sports venue. It can be cold and windy in April so I would bring a coat. They sell food and beer in the park. Sometime you might try to get a ticket in the box seats, they are so close to the playing field you can see the players really well. On the roof there are no poles to obstruct your view.

Plinko, from where you will be sitting, you'll basically be looking straight out towards the right field fair pole (Pesky's Pole). The view isn't great from there -- you're looking at the wall in LF instead of the action in the infield -- but there are lots worse places to see a game there. As others have said, the view is not obstructed (you're on the roof, so there are no poles to get in the way), and you can see the whole park from where you'll be.

There are concession stands up on the roof, and if you want you can get up and walk around the whole park to look (except the suites). Security isn't took bad about letting things inside (no coolers, obviously), but I've brought in my DSLR with a decent-sized lens with no problems. Definitely take pictures if you can. And welcome!

Thanks for the info guys. I've been to Boston 2X before, but always in January so this'll be a treat. Fenway is the last of the old school parks that I really wanted to see (I've even been to games at the old Tiger Stadium and Municipal Stadium in Cleveland!).

I've heard that the sightlines in Fenway are quite bad (unless you're sitting in box seats) but hey...it's Fenway right? :)
