[Mercutio]

Greek forumer Neorion promised me that he would stop slagging off Britain in SSC's Euroscrapers if I took a few photos of Greek London for him (I live in Bayswater near the St Sophia Greek church on Moscow Road). He told me a few places to go and here is the result. I'm not much of a photographer and I only have my crappy little compact camera. The light was also somewhat harsh today but anyway it gives you an idea. :)


Moscow Road is home to St Sophia's Greek church which is an important centre for the Greek community in Bayswater.

St Sophia's church is very impressive inside. When Greece won the Euro football the area erupted with celebrating Greeks. I was touched when one drunken reveller kissed an image on the door of this church.

What can I say, Monkey? Thank you very much for this thread. Sure im not Greek, but we Serbs & Greeks are kindred folk, and most of this stuff looks like home sweet home to me. I'm sure I would feel good in London now, after seeing these heart-warming pics.

Of course, nothing compares to my Toronto, where the Greek community numbers 2-300.000 strong, second largest outside of Greece itself(only Melbourne in Australia has more).

I wish you'd give us the pleasure of a photo thread more often. :) You pick nice subjects and take good photos. I particularly enjoyed the many inside shots of St. Sophia Church, as well as those inside of the Greek grocery store.
