Would be interesting to see some bargains in each city for homes. Obviously the term "bargain" is relative from one city to the next.
I just came across this one in Regina, just outside downtown. Appears to be a conversion from apartment to condo, for only $64,000.

My GF and I have a condo that is around 600sqft. It's small, but livable. You just need to keep tidy, and have a good layout.

And good furniture is a must (not that I'd know about living in a condo). Unfortunately for me, most of the furniture that my parents want to give to me when I move out is old, bulky stuff from the late 60's... we had 30 year old t.v's kicking around until they finally died last year... :yuck:
The last thing anyone needs are oversized chairs and couches that weigh at least twice their modern equivalents and don't offer anything near comfort.

That Regina condo would cost twice as much in North Bay.

This is the best condo bargain (cheapest) in Victoria. 445 sqft batchelor with a bad floor plan (way too much storage space and not enough living space) in a worn out looking building. $113,000 - http://www.mls.ca/PropertyDetails.aspx?PropertyID=5492141

The next best, 510 sqft one bedroom also in a worn out looking building. $130,000 - http://www.mls.ca/PropertyDetails.aspx?PropertyID=5422927

Here's what I think is a big bargain in Hamilton. All for $99,900 in the heart of downtown Hamilton, close to the GO Station. It's a condo conversion so it's all brand new.

^^ In Thunder Bay, an apartment on top of a decent grocer near the bus terminal would be at least 150,000.

It all depends on the area.
The area is actually really good, close to downtown and just outside Wascana Park. That's what makes the price so surprising.

The most expensive unit is $159,000 which still is a good price. In the front window you can see Denningers, http://www.denningers.ca/, which is it's flagship store. Couldn't ask for a better location, directly across from a grocery store, downtown, GO station, etc.
Within the same area another new condo is asking for $239,000

Not the best looking place but it's not bad either, and it's on northwest edge of downtown, on a bus route, so it's pretty convenient. Less than 10 minutes from a grocery store.

The condos in this building range from 99k to 159k.
All of them show the same basic pictures, which leaves me to believe that the pictures they're showing is for the higher priced units. The 99k unit might not look as nice and is probably smaller.
Here's a link to the 159k unit - notice the same pics:

Who the heck would want a stove with no range hood and fan? You burn something and the smoke fills the apartment! It's the sink that is supposed to go on the peninsula in an open comcept kitchen.

Aren't range hoods a little outdated?
I can't think of too many houses that I've been in that have hoods anymore.

It's got downdraft venting. See that white thing on top of the range? That's where the fan is located.

Most rangehoods are horribly ineffective. But a rangehood is needed more for gas ranges then electric so that the fumes can be removed.
If you burn something, unless you've got a commercial grade hood, you're going to get smoke throughout the apartment.
