Seeing as we have a whole section to ourselves now, why not whore out on construction threads, such as a GVRD thread for construction outside Vancouver proper, or even just outside the "downtown" area.

Was also thinking about an okanogan development thread, Kelowna is growing like crazy, there must be some buildings going up... Maybe a Van. Island thread, perhapes merged with the vic thread as niether would get that much traffic.

Good call canadian mind. I'm for the "Vancouver 'burbs construction" thread, the "Kelowna construction" thread, and expanded Victoria construction to "Vancouver Island Construction".

Maybe someone should make a poll to see what the other forumers think and then we can start the agreed threads and get them posted as stickies. Anybody want to add any other possible threads other than construction for Kelowna, 'burbs, and the Island? Borrowing from SSC, we could always have a 2010 related one as well as a Vancouver photography thread.

Having a general Transit thread for all projects plus keep the existing Canada Line thread because that is under construction.

Not sure if Vancouver Island thread should be just one (maybe Victoria and other island stuff in two separate threads). There's just too much going on in Victoria right now that if everything else on the island was included you would have trouble finding them as it would mostly be Victoria. I'd say it's analagous to having a BC thread that includes everything in BC, it'd be tough for me to find Victoria projects, cause there are so many in the lower mainland that are way higher than Victorias projects.

Ideally only the major urban centres are going to warrant threads. Like Vancouver or Victoria, also for transit threads.

please remember mark, we're kinda in the middle of an economic boom right now, there are buildings going up left right and centre here.

on Van island there are only a few projects per city/metro area, and most of these areas are fairly small, doesn't mean we shouldn't have a general thread for these sorts of things. <---- Talking about Vancouver island there... and another thing about Vancouver island, the whole east coast of the island from Victoria to Bowser, and maybe even all the way to Courtney and Campbell river, is going to be one big city in 10-15 years.

As for Kelowna, I always see new highrises going up... I also always see buildings that are sinking due to shitty ass foundations... does that not warrant a stickied thread? They also have a new bridge being built.

I have no probem with one Victoria thread and one "Rest of the Island" thread, I just thought that a lot of Victoria traffic died once VV came about so an overall Van Island thread would be a bit busier. But if there are still enough Victoria people around to warrant keeping the Victoria Construction thread as is, I'm happy.

Kelowna would work, possibly also Kamloops.

The way to tell is to try it out and if they don't get posted in enough then cancel it.

This section is lacking anywhere to post small scale projects such as infill and townhousing, which sometimes can be interesting. These are important in urban development as well as highrises.
