One sure could get creative from the top of the Eiffel. I am sure this pic can be a real beauty from groundlevel. People playing soccer with those beautiful buildings in the background.

Awesome photos, as always, Jonas! If an extraterrestrial came to earth and only had time to see one crowning achievement of mankind, I would take it to the top of the Eiffel tower and let it gaze down at Paris...

It's hard to pick a favorite among so many gems, but this one takes the cake for me, because it has some Parisian architecture (BTW, does anyone know the formal name for the architecture commonly found in Paris?) in the foreground, and the vast expanse of the outer ring in the background...

(BTW, does anyone know the formal name for the architecture commonly found in Paris?)

Most of the big boulevards and avenues are lined with what is improperly called "architecture haussmannienne" (Haussmann Style).

In fact, the true Haussmann Style, named after Baron Haussmann who remodelled Paris between 1850 and 1870, is rather boring. The nice, ornate architecture that prevails along the bourgeois avenues, was mosly built between 1890 and 1920. It should be called "post-Haussmannien" (in French), or post-Haussmann style.

Thank you so much for that. I've always wondered what name it had exactly.

Thanks Fabb, I've been wondering the name of the architecture since it blew my socks off during my visit last summer - it is my favorite architectural style anywhere on earth - it's so solid and sturdy looking yet elegant and venerable.

Edited for spelling.

Great shots - Paris looking good as always! I must have been to Paris a dozen times, but I've bothered going up the Eiffel Tower - too many tourists.
