I've heard from various city council members that they're starting the studies on BRT in San Antonio, TX soon-- what's the skinny on this?
1st: What are the routes they want to serve?
2nd: Is this a precursor to rail of some sort?

BRT is a go. VIA's first line will be Fredericksburg Rd. and connect downtown to the Medical Center.
I believe they are spending 100 million on this intial starter line. VIA is also studying other lines for the future. The great thing about BRT is that you can easily switch it to light rail.

Thank effing God, seriously.
I hated the fact that I was able on multiple occasions to call my friend who was on the 92 bus before me and actually WALK to their bus and hop on during rush hour.
"What bus are you on?" "I dunno, we just passed the deco HEB!" "Me too! Wait, I see you..."

I have an issue with cities like San Antonio starting big projects like BRT, when their current bus system is crap.
For a city of over one million, regular bus service should not be ending at 9PM.
Why not take that money and beef up the current bus service, before starting mega projects?

I have an issue with folks who oppose improvements without knowing anything about them.
No specifics about this proposal have been posted in this thread, and 99 times out of 100 "BRT" is nothing but beefing up current bus service. Very rarely does it actually qualify as a "mega project".

BRT Projects are more like road reconstruction projects.

I have heard nothing of BRT in SayTown.

I actually did some research on this matter. It turns out that San Antonio already runs an extensive limited stop bus service along all their major roads.

And what does that have to do with this BRT proposal?
Please, share with us what you know. And if you don't know anything, then kindly don't criticize.

Essentially, they are creating an extensive ROW down fred road with LRT-style stations. Hmmmm.
