Considering that with the exception of the IBM building all of the other structures in that photo above your comment appear to date from the 1930s or earlier, the Trump Tower does come across as rather futuristic or as if someone just photopshopped it into that scene.

Dug around some more and can now answer my own query: the iconography is a movie-palace mix of medieval & mythological figures. These are the same chaps who designed the Uptown & Chicago Theaters. Rapp & Rapp, 1928.

Ha, yea I was visiting Exelon. It was a nice view of every direction. I Was also in the Sun Times building which is ugly as sin on the outside but man, when you're inside those windows (even though you're not that high up) give you some awesome views. Also got to go into Aon which had some stellar views (I was at CNN and some PR firms)
It's fun to get to see the city from so many diff buildings perspectives. I was also in Sears, Leo Burnett building, and got to stay at the Hard Rock and Hampton Majestic (Which I'm guessing use to be offices) Can you tell someone is graduating soon? Haha. Hopefully Chi will be employing me.....if I can find a agency/firm that isn't in a hiring freeze.

Trump, lenders in temporary truce on lawsuits
By: Alby Gallun March 03, 2009
(Crain’s) — Donald Trump and the lenders on his Chicago skyscraper have agreed to put their legal dispute on hold as the developer wraps up construction of the 92-story tower.
Mr. Trump and Deutsche Bank Trust Co. Americas sued each other last fall over a past-due $640-million construction loan on the project. The developer claimed that the financial crisis gave him the legal right not to pay back the loan, while the bank demanded that Mr. Trump honor a $40-million personal guarantee he made on the loan.
But the two sides have reached an agreement “that provides for the suspension of litigation between the parties as discussions move forward,” according to a news release issued Tuesday.

Why not? Where have you been? It's all about sustainability now and numerous projects, including a 1,200' tower here in San Francisco, are being designed with various types of wind-driven electrical generating devices on top.

except it barely looks anything like a windmill and anyone who has paid one bit of attention to this project knows there are no windmills
it's obviously just a piece of construction equipment

Wow, 300 N LaSalle looks massive. It's amazing to think how much this scene has changed in just five years.
Thanks, Jibba.

To what building are you referring?
is this a windmill on the top of the tower?
I was going to ask about that too. Looks like a turbine.

There was a much used walkway there before, it looks like this will be public space although the already finished walkway to the N of the tower has replaced the old shorcut.

harrcy, BVictor, cbot: great stuff. cbot, that last photo is the definition of surreal.
I've always liked this building but do so now more than I ever thought I would. In my hierarchical design scheme, it's as good as a building can be without being pioneering or innovative.
cbotnyse, that shot is awesomely disorienting. Was the Wabash bridge up when you took that?
