The "Livable South Downtown" coalition has been formed to aid in the creation of a more friendly South Downtown Community for Seattle residents and visitors. Noticed a bunch of kids in Green T-Shirts on Monday's Mariners Game passing out "Livable South Downtown" post cards outside the ball park. Also a few banners up along 1st avenue and Royal Brougham. I was told this website will continue to grow...sounds like the coalition has members representing all sorts of interests in the SODO Area.

Thoughts on creating a "Livable South Downtown"? I think this is sweet...our Sodo District lacks so much when compared to say San Francisco's Stadium District or San Diego's...we need more parks, bars, housing, shopping etc. around our Stadiums!

The biggest key is the project planned for the north half of the north stadium lot. What S. Downtown needs is a critical mass of middle-income people, and that one project would go a long way.

Also, I've heard the idea of covering the train tracks for a few blocks around Qwest. That would be a huge help because it would reconnect neighborhoods while also deleting something that's ugly and noisy (and beneficial, yes).

I'm very excited about South Downtown's future. King Street Station is undergoing a major renovation, Uwajimaya is looking to build a new complex and of course the stadium lot project that was mentioned. Thanks for the information, I think I'm going to join up. This area is where I'd like to relocate to. I love the rest of downtown, but I really love the neighborhoods of the city's southend and would like to be that much closer to it.
